The Little People

The most prominent personalities in the antiwar movement resist all efforts to classify their angry activism as anti-American. But Sunday night’s Oscar extravaganza obliterated such defensive distinctions. For 3 1/2 hours, the entertainment elite indulged in the usual orgy of self-congratulation with only hostile or dismissive reference to epic Iraqi battles involving thousands of U.S. troops. They offered no hint of gratitude, affection, loyalty or connection to the superpower that sustains them.

Opinion Journal/Wall Street Journal, by Michael Medved

In regards to Hollywood’s total disconnect from reality, I think Jay Leno said it best, on the Tonight Show:
“Don’t you love this town? You drug an underage girl, you rape her, you flee the country, you get an Oscar. You build a church, and it’s ‘What are you, nuts?!” -Jay Leno, commenting on Roman Polanski and Mel Gibson

  1. I love Jay Leno! Not only is he correct with the church thing, but that crowd applauded the child molestor winning and cheered when M Moore slammed our Pres. go figure.

  2. I’ve always been a *huge* fan of Michael Medved; I remember being *very* disappointed when his PBS review show “Sneak Previews” was discontinued! He absolutely *nailed* it here in a nutshell; I have to admit, I never even thought of the implications of Steve Martin’s “Our men and women”-reference not specifying the US military!

I think the closing was my favorite part:

    >

I also love the notion of demonstrators holding signs that say “Impeach Sheen.” It’s about freaking time, I say!!!

  3. Okay, I guess those brackets don’t work here! LOL…that’s okay, here’s the closing again…

“Beyond threats of boycotts and petitions (which scare no one), there is a pervasive sense of disillusionment and anger that ought to alarm the industry. For years, Hollywood has promoted messages that neither reflect nor respect the values of everyday Americans. On Oscar night, the contrast between our struggling troops in Iraq and the stars who wouldn’t support their efforts proved too glaring to ignore–or forget.”

  4. I think that our Boycotts are putting Massive Pressure on Anti-America Celebrities. I also have a feeling that these Anti-America celebrities are having trouble dealing with the fact they are being Boycotted.

Maybe one of these days Movie Production Companies might on their own Free Will refuse to cast this or that Star in a Movie role(although I would not be suprised if some of em already are. Heck Sean Penn whined his crybaby tears over being denied a Movie role claiming his Views on Iraq were a reason he was denied the Movie role).

  6. [At that glittering occasion, entertainer Michael Feinstein tried to lead the assembled stars and swells in "God Bless America," only to find many members of the crowd ostentatiously refusing to participate.]

These people owe everything they have to this country and the more anti-American they become, the more I despise them.. They care for absolutely no one but themselves and their money.. They shall never have another dime from me !

  7. I switched back and forth during Oscars night to the 24hrs news networks. I wanted to see who would be in support of our military, and who would open mouth, and insert their foot. Needless to say I became quickly disgusted by the hollywood crowd. Like watching a self-masturbatory circle jerk. From Martin Sheen (I’m not the president, but I play one on TV) to the idiotic Michael Moore. In my opinion the only one there with any class was Peter O’ Toole.

  8. You know, Ryan, I think that for all their bravado, you may be right — they may indeed be feeling the pinch. Why else would Marty resort to appropriately placed duct tape? LOL…

  9. Good point, Ryan. I thought the same thing myself, but he still makes his feelings known with the duct tape and carrying a cross. What an insult to Christians. I’m beginning to think Martin doesn’t need to be Boycotted as much as he needs to be Committed.. He is such a Loon that he is becoming laughable… He should do standup at the Improv !

  10. I totally agree with twolf. On Oscar night I never saw so many crocodile tears in my life. I might have missed somebody but I could’ve sworn that there were no black actors to receive any awards.Aren’t they supposed to be the politically correct crowd?I think that it is so hypocritical that the elite that villify the white man are white men themselves.Could it be that Hollywood is racist?
