United Press International: Michael Moore plans Bush-bin Laden film
LOS ANGELES, March 28 (UPI) — Filmmaker Michael Moore’s next project might be more controversial than his Oscar-winning documentary “Bowling for Columbine.”
According to a report in Friday’s Daily Variety, Moore is working on a documentary about the “the murky relationship” between former President George Bush and the family of al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden. The paper said the movie, “Fahrenheit 911,” will suggest that the bin Laden family profited greatly from the association.
Moore’s anti-war, anti-Bush Oscar acceptance speech provoked a mixture of cheers and boos at the Academy Awards last Sunday.
So what – he’ll utterly misrepresent yet another American tragedy in order to pack $$ in his wallet. Because that’s what it’s all about – - who cares how false his ‘documentaries’ are – - as long as it continues to bring home the bacon.
Not since Gore Vidal and Norman Mailer have we seen such a successful export of anti-Americanism, a phenomenon carefully cultivated by some on America’s campuses and liberal urban enclaves. And like most American products, it sells very well.
The only problem with this scenario is that Michael Moore is a serial dissembler. His book, “Stupid White Men,” was laced with inaccuracies and falsehoods. His movie is just as bad. It’s worth looking at just a few of these falsehoods to see exactly what his agenda is.
Michael Moore’s financial backer for this project is Mel Gibson’s company, Icon Productions! Please add that bit of news to your report. Let Gibson hear that his pocketbook will be hurt as well as any credibility he ever had. And, Hollywood rants about Enron, American big business types!!! “People who live in glass houses…”
With all the coverage Michael Fictious Moore has been gaining for “Bowling for Columbine” and the outburst of many who were involved in the project of how inaccurate it is I would think people would realize this guy is doing nothing more than writing self thought up plot lines to interject into actual events. Kind of like a historical romance novel where they take actual events and put a damsel into it.

I sincerely hope that the backlash is so bad that the financial backing is yanked but good from this walking, screaming gigantic ego. It’s high time he got a nice dose of humility. We already know how much he hates the president; I hope the line is drawn in the sand but good.

I think you serve as a fine example for others from your side of the argument – - they all need to lighten up and realize that opinions are like a**holes – - everyone has got one! So they shouldn’t let our opinions get so far underneath their skin – - do you know how many emails I’ve received from ‘peace’ supporters who have made threats on my life? LOL
Oh, and in terms of the whole typo thing? Those who are posted in our hate mail section are there because they felt they had something important to say, but couldn’t seem to get it out without some kind of hate or insults flung in our direction. Firstly, Terry, please point out to me my hypocrisies. Where did I say I thought it was okay for Clinton to go to war? I didn’t think it was. Remember, John Major went for it too. Where did I say I supported Saddam? I don’t. I’d like to see regime change in the middle east too, but that is not what this war is about. You, and others on this site are showing the typical, tunnel vision, “with us or against us” attitude that the world has to put up with from right wing America.

Bravo Sandy. I came to this site after seeing a section on the local news about how radicals are voicing their opinions. I could not believe that people would believe this was an valid way to convince people that they were on the side of justice and the “American Way”. They want to persecute someone because they choose to voice their opinion. They want to boycott them and destroy their works and encourage others to destroy them also. Now isn’t that the “American Way” of things. To promote a country where we all believe one way or we are condemned. I thought that only happened in countries where there were no freedoms. Countries like Iraq? Are you saying our country is NO BETTER THAN IRAQ????? Wow.. what antiqued way to think.
As for boycotting Michael Moore’s books and taking money from him, I seriously doubt anyone that supports this website would be the kind of people that would buy his books in the first place. They are full of a bunch of truths and facts that people that support this site do not want to hear. This site wants to boycott the Dixie Chicks and destroy their albums. Well, to destroy their albums, you would have had to buy them in the first place and their profit has already been made if that is the case. Ohh and one more note to a reference above by Terry.. George Bush was not elected, he was appointed by the Supreme Court. Al Gore is the president Elect. If you doubt that is true, (like most republicans do) read The Betrayal of America : How the Supreme Court Undermined the Constitution and Chose Our President by Vincent Bugliosi about the five crooks on the Supreme Court who betrayed their own morals and philosophy to get the guy they wanted in the white house. None of their arguments made any legal sense, and, to make matters worse, these five felons said their decision didn’t apply to any other cases, something they have all whined about other judges doing for years. Bugliosi, a famous prosecutor and brilliant lawyer, wrote an article for the Nation, which is essentially this book, except here he takes more time to back up what he says. The Nation article generated more mail than any other article in the magazine’s history!

This war is Supposed to be about Freedom!. One of the greatest benefits of being and American citizen is the right to dissent and to express that opinion. To paraphrase a former patriot saying, “I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend with my life your right to say it.”
Therefore, I disagree with the notion that “it would be better for America if all the liberal Democrats would back President Bush on the war with Iraq.”
The best thing for this country is to have open, honest debate on political issues, particularly those involving armed conflict. Americans are not obligated to agree with their president, whether a Republican or Democrat. It is up to the president to convince people that the foreign policy of this country is correct, not vice versa.
As a Democrat I am offended by the insinuation that because I do not follow in lock step the decision of President Bush, my actions are contrary to the “good of the country.” I believe that a good citizen tries to educate himself or herself about issues, make inquiries, and arrives at a conclusion consistent with his or her beliefs and conscience.
I oppose any suggestion that Americans should follow their leader regardless of personal feelings. Those who oppose all dissent concerning a national leader needs to consider moviong to places like Iraq where that view is the law.
Fictitious election? Bush was handed the presidency? Then why has every independent post-election recount conducted in Florida showed him as the winner? Another vast right-wing conspiracy, I guess.
A Democrat (D) designed the ballot that caused all the “confusion” in Florida.
The media caused a lot of chaos by calling the election for Gore (D) before the polls had even closed (like they didn’t know after all these elections Florida is in two time zones).
A Republican (R) Secretary of State followed the laws of her state when she enforced the results certification deadline. Gore sued, wanting only to recount areas where he thought he would pick up votes.
The Florida Supreme Court (D majority) overruled a lower court and the Sec. of State, extending the recount deadline.
Bush (R) went to the US Supreme Court, which wanted to know from the Florida court justices exactly what law they were basing their ruling, which usurped the authority of the duly elected Sec. of State.
OOPS! BUSTED! (Insert sheepish grin)
Seven of the justices agreed there were constitutional problems with the subsequent recounts. Four disagreed with a proper remedy. That being the case, the Florida court was OVERRULED, the Sec. of State certified the results in favor of Bush.
Vincent Bugliosi is a smart lawyer. Smart enough to write a book that would so appeal to those not happy with the outcome of the 2000 election that they’d be likely to pay money to read.

I was shocked by the terrorist actions of September 11th, 2001, but I am now shocked at the U.S. government’s so called “war against the axis of evil”. They state their current intentions are to depose a dictator and “liberate” the people of Iraq. I find this hypocritical in the extreme. Consider the U.S. governments past record.
Their attempts to keep South Vietnam free from the oppression of communism included the installation of a corrupt government and the eventual abandonment of the people to their fate. Their assault on Indochina between 1954 and 1975 cost the lives of 2,000,000 people, many U.S. citizens included. The history of the U.S.A in this aspect is deplorable.
In 1954 the U.S. sponsored a coup against democracy in Guatemala, which resulted in the deaths of over 120,000 people over the course of four decades. They then overthrew the Dominican Republic government in 1965, where 3,000 were murdered by the regime forced upon the country. Then came 1973, when the U.S. sponsored a coup against the Chilean democratically elected government of Salvador Allende, replacing him with the military dictatorship of Pinochet, which eliminated another 30,000 people. Perhaps the most monstrous regime backed by the U.S. was that of Suharto, the “smiling general” of Indonesia, who, between 1965 and 1997, with weapons bought from the U.K., murdered over 800,000 of his own citizens. The U.S. financed war against Nicaragua in the 1980’s also resulted in the violent deaths of 30,000 innocent people while the invasion of Panama in 1989 killed over 8,000 in an attempt to capture George H. Bush’s CIA partner, Manuel Noriega. Furthermore the Shah of Iran was installed in a U.S. sponsored brutal coup that resulted in the deaths of over 70,000 Iranians.
Perhaps most shocking of all is that in the 1980’s bin Laden was recruited, trained and funded by the CIA to fight against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan. The same applies to the current enemy, Saddam Hussein, who was a CIA asset during the 1980’s.This information is not unknown or even controversial among government officials in the U.S.A.
The events of September 11th ,although appalling, are likely to generate even more actions by the U.S. that will add significantly to the victims cited above. States that have been identified for possible elimination are countries such as Syria, Sudan, Iran and most frightening of all, the nuclear armed North Korea. None of these countries are democracies, which mean that the population’s opinion has no effect on their governments. How many casualties will the U.S. tolerate before civilians become insignificant in this crusade? To even contemplate a policy of disregarding civilian casualties would be beyond shocking – it would be just as murderous, insane and suicidal as the actions of the hijackers themselves.
Martin Luther King Jnr. stated in 1967, during the Vietnam War, “My government is the world’s leading purveyor of violence”. How prophetic will those words turn out to be?
I’m open to informed debate on this subject, although I doubt very much if there are many INFORMED opinions on this site.
As for the U.K., well we all know what happened in Ireland for over 300 years.
