Kerry says US needs its own ‘regime change’

Senator John F. Kerry said yesterday that President Bush committed a ”breach of trust” in the eyes of many United Nations members by going to war with Iraq, creating a diplomatic chasm that will not be bridged as long as Bush remains in office.

”What we need now is not just a regime change in Saddam Hussein and Iraq, but we need a regime change in the United States,” Kerry said in a speech at the Peterborough Town Library.

Despite pledging two weeks ago to cool his criticism of the administration once war began, Kerry unleashed a barrage of criticism as US troops fought within 25 miles of Baghdad.

”I don’t think they’re going to trust this president, no matter what,” Kerry said. ”I believe it deeply, that it will take a new president of the United States, declaring a new day for our relationship with the world, to clear the air and turn a new page on American history.”

I would lay odds that Kerry believes the new President of the United States should be him. I find this to be a disgusting ploy dreamed up by him and his campaign camp to try to gain popularity for the 2004 elections.

Not only has Kerry shown his complete lack of support for our President, current Administration, troops and their families he has proven that when he makes a pledge he doesn’t mean it. Is this really the guy Americans want in office as a Senator let alone as President of the United States?

I think Kerry has also forgotten about the complaints he made against the heartland of America – - mainly the Mid-West – - when he stated that he “hates visiting places like Austin, TX and Dubuque, Iowa”. Is this a guy we want in power, one who “hates” places in America so much that he will only go there to campaign and to raise money for his campaign?

Many do not know, and I didn’t until I spoke with Lisa this morning, that John Kerry is married to Teresa Heinz (heiress of the Heinz Ketchup fortune). I cannot and am not speaking for anyone but myself, but I will have no more Heinz products in my home from today forward. If Kerry hates visiting the heartland and speaks out in this manner against our President then I say let Heinz pick up the tab for his campaign.

  1. Someone needs to remind Kerry that the President of the United States answers to the citizens of the United States not to the whim of the United Nations.

  2. How absolutely un-american of him. Inexcuseable. Frightening

  3. Boycott this stupid senseless site !!!
    Bush sux…!!
    Independent media !!

  4. ….has any one of you anit-war dummy’s realized that there are only about 20% of you out of the whole united states?
You guys keep your day jobs and let our President and his people do thiers……

  5. I think you have your statistics reversed. That’s the number of people who *oppose* the president.

As for Kerry, as a former Texan and a current Midwesterner, I think he’s the worst man for the job (well, next to Gephardt). I’ll stick with the current Texan, thank you!

  6. hey kerry why dont you move to Iraq. what a propaganda. you will never make it to become a candidate for president. no way you are very stupid and useless. shame on you.

  7. I HADN’T THOUGHT OF BOYCOTTING HEINZ PRODUCTS. CONSIDER IT DONE. REMEMBER JOHN KERRY DOESN’T “NEED” WE IN THE SOUTH EITHER. HE’S RUNNING OUT OF REAL ESTATE. HIS SUPERIOR ATTITUDE IS NAUSEATING. WHAT A BUNCH OF LOSERS ON THE DEMOCRATIC SIDE. PLEASE DON’T THINK WE NORTH CAROLINIANS ARE LIKE JOHN “HOLLYWOOD” EDWARDS. HE CAN’T EVEN REMEMBER WHERE WE ARE. HIS HOME STATE IS IOWA. WAY TO GO TROOPS AND TOMMY FRANKS!! GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS!! WE ARE SO PROUD!! THERE ARE MORE OF US WHO APPRECIATE YOUR SERVICE!! GODSPEED!! GOD BLESS GEORGE BUSH!!

  8. I hate John Kerry as much as the next guy, but how is it a strike against him that he doesn’t enjoy certain parts of the country?

  9. as a registered democrat, I am steadily tiring of the whining and complaining and rude commenting and insulting words being directed at the President. I am not thrilled that war became the necessary evil in order to prevent another onslaught of Hitler behavior. Remember, Europeans get to speak their own individual languages of their countries, not German! I am disgusted and ashamed that I am being represented as a democrat in this manner.

  10. Well, if you’re going to throw percentages around…How’s this?
President Bush wasn’t elected by the popular vote! If you’re sick of that one, here’s an easier one. Since only half of this country votes, and less than half voted for bush…about 20% VOTED BUSH!!!!!!!!!
yes, that’s right, look it up, because it’s true. When you subtract 3rd parties, etc…it’s about 20%. So don’t play down 20% of this country, because that is a WHOLE lot of America. Let’s face it: There is a huge portion of this country that is ignorant & does not care enough to even go out and vote on Election Tues. The portion who don’t know or really care will go with the ‘popular,’ acceptable, way. The 20% who voted for Bush will go with him, and the 20% he voted against him, will stay against him.
    Easy.

  11. Anne,

No need to rehash the 2000 election, but I know what you’re saying. I voted for Bush. I don’t agree with everything he’s done, but I don’t want him to be an abject failure because we’re not entirely on the same page.

It’s a shame that so few people make the decisions that affect everyone. It would be easy to say people who don’t vote don’t have a right to complain about anything. But having the right to vote means you have the right to withhold your vote. Some people don’t vote for religious reasons (Jehovah’s Witnesses come to mind), and others just don’t find a candidate to their liking. Some tend to think we’re screwed no matter who wins.

I remember talking to a friend years ago who would never vote because they could be picked for jury duty then. I told him to go ahead and register, because in this state (Michigan), jury pools are called from not just registered voters, but licensed drivers. Armed with this new knowledge, he’s voted in every election since.

  12. As usual, Kerry only got it half-ass right. It is time for a ‘regime change’ in Washington — in the Democratic Party (Socialist Party?).

  13. How ironic that Kerry actually fought for the US in Viet Nam, while Bush was either AWOL from the Texas National Guard snorting coke and playing golf in Kennebunkport or “protecting the Gulf of Mexico from the Vietnamese…” Bush is pathetic and hopefully, with God on our side, his unelected and illegitimate regime will be changed in 2004.

  14. Wow! With all of these comments being thrown around and the disparaging remarks about Bush’s Election. I want to clear up the fact that most of those people whom found it confusing to vote, are/were retirees from northern states… and also a fact that was pushed aside too easily was that those were democrat run poles; and he still WON….things that make you go hummmmm!!!!! I am a proud Floridian and supporter of George W. Bush. I disagree with Anne who stated only 20% of Americans are Bush supporters. I personally have seen people move from Bush haters to Bush lovers; many after being lifetime democrats.
And also “if you want to talk percentages” – current popularity poles are based on 100% of the persons poled..not on the break down that Ann so conveniently created. ie. “Since only half of this country votes,”etc..Funny how people can make numbers say anything that they want them to, but a thinking person can figure them out every time.
Sooo….I guess if it makes him/her feel better to make such statements, my comment is….Just keep telling yourself that, you must enjoy the sound of your own voice.

  15. I WONDER…HOW MANY U.S. TROOPS VOTES WILL BE THROWN OUT BY DEMOCRATS IN 2004 ELECTION ! GORE WOULD SURE HAVE MADE THE
U.S. FORCES CRINGE IN SHAME IF HE HAD BEEN THEIR COMMANDER IN CHIEF….ANYBODY NOTICED HOW MUCH OUR TROOPS LOVE PRESIDENT BUSH !
    ANYONE REMEMBER HOW DISRESPECTED CLINTON
    WAS BY OUR TROOPS?
IF AL GORE HAD SUCCEEDED IN CHEATING HIS WAY INTO THE WHITEHOUSE WE WOULD ALL BE LEARNING ARABIC BY NOW ! GOD BLESS PRESIDENT BUSH.
