Matthew McConaughey: “I’m a proud, patriotic American”
McConaughey sees himself as a proud, patriotic American. He is glad the fighting in Iraq is over, is glad America went in there and got rid of Saddam Hussein. The hard, patient work is ahead, and “it’s going to take a decade at least to reform, rebuild and stabilise that place.
If the hard part’s over as far as the fighting goes then this has been, in my mind, extremely efficient, and I believe that our commander-in-chief, George Bush junior, had his heart in the right place.
“You know, we have not evolved as a people, as the human race, to have peace without war. We never did before in history and we obviously aren’t doing it right now. But the discussions that are going on now about the right way or the wrong way to go about this are more advanced than they’ve ever been, so that’s a sign of evolution there, man.”
Matthew.
With all due respect man. He’s not a “junior”.
The father is: George Herbert Walker Bush
The son is: George Walker Bush.
Guess that intelligence thing (Hollywood-wise) holds true no matter what side of the ‘wing’ you place yourself. Funniest thing. Just like the rest of us.
Oh, this man is sooo fine, he can call George just about anything, I wouldn’t mind. I know this statement isn’t relevant, so no one has to point it out…
Sandy??
I feel ya babe… I feel ya. (Dammit I wish you spoke French right now….)
Although I doubt Matthew is all that intelligent, I’m sure many people would make his same mistake. That’s not necessarily indicative of stupidity at all.
of course you wish she spoke french. So that you could tell her this:

Best,
…On the Junior thing, I think it was funny during the campaign of 2000 W was repeattedly referred to as “junior” (an attempt to align him more closely with Bush 41), while Al Gore, whom by the way IS a junior, was referrred to simply as Al Gore…
Now the first announced presidential candidate of the Democratic Party is alleging the liberation of Iraq was only W trying to settle his father’s score with Saddam. Maybe another attempt at the “Junior” tie-in?
As far as Mr. McConaughey’s support for the action, this American appreciates it.
