Ted’s Sour Grapes

Turner Calls Rival Media Mogul Murdoch ‘Warmonger’

“He’s a warmonger,” Turner said in an evening speech to the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco of Murdoch, whose News Corp. Ltd. owns the fast-growing Fox News Channel. “He promoted it.”

Fox News Channel has been the most popular U.S. cable news network during the conflict, trumping AOL Time Warner Inc.’s CNN, which Turner started more than two decades ago and came to prominence with its blanket coverage of the 1991 Gulf War.

Asked by an audience member for his thoughts on Fox’s larger ratings share than CNN’s, Turner said, “Just because your ratings are bigger doesn’t mean you’re better.”

“It’s not how big you are, it’s how good you are that really counts,” Turner said, drawing hoots from the audience.

I’m hearing sour grapes here. CNN is a failed news organization who stiffles real news that could potentially save lives, in exchange for greedy journalistic access. CNN sold it’s soul to Baghdad – and then they wonder why FOX is sitting at Number One? It’s a no-brainer, Ted.

  1. “it’s how good you are that really counts”

It has been proven time and again that CNN is only out for themselves – - they don’t care about the stories, the people involved or anything other than their ratings and the money they earn.

I agree, Lisa – - it is a no brainer as to why FOXNEWS is #1!

  2. “It’s not how big you are, it’s how good you are that really counts,” Turner said….

Not that I am “Long John Silver”, but when I heard that, I thought, “Is Ted showing his inadequacy for his small penis compared to the President’s, or is he talking about CNN compared to FOX?”

    Now that’s relevance…. UGH!

But while we have reduced ourselves to this level, may I suggest (simply from an observational standpoint…) that undoubtedly the REVERSE is true with reference to the measuring contest you have put in place?

  4. I hate agreeing with Chose, but Wes, really. Get over it.

  5. FOX News has Bill O’Reilly. How can you compete w/that?

    Amicalement,

  8. CNN has said they are not a american news station. They are a international news station. I think that explains CNN. As for Ted, he got out of CNN just in time.

  9. “Just because your ratings are bigger doesn’t mean you’re better.”

Hey, he’s right…kinda. MSNBC is better than CNN!

Now CNN is saying they are ‘international.’ What a joke! I am a big fan of international news and I watch it on NWI and MHZ. I don’t need the Cresent News Network for so-called international news.

Go Fox. Go Sheppard Smith. Go Bill O’Reilly. CNN ain’t nuttin but a sellout.

  11. Let’s see? Fox News sellout Geraldo Rivera puts our soldier’s lives at risk by revealing their locations on live TV! And in the middle of battle! How many soldiers were killed in Iraqi counter attacks the following days because of this treason? Now which network is the sellout? Oh… and let us not forget the Fox News crews who were caught with pillaged and looted Iraqi artifacts upon return to the United States. This is a credible network? How many other Fox News looters were not caught with the goods? Everyone knows for every thief that is caught dozens of his additional crimes are not detected.

Bill O’Reilley? He blatantly lied for years about not being a conservative until confronted with undisputable evidence and lifetime Republican Party membership. No “spin” zone? You conservatives sure are gullible yet continue to allow yourselves to be lied to by this man every day.

Why did Paula Zahn really leave Fox News? Because she grew tired of guests refusing her invitations for the show because of the blatantly boring bias and right wing cheerleading channel.

Fox News had to pay BIG TIME in Florida after it fired two reporters who protested the networks execs and Roger Ailes interfering with an investigative story to make it slant more favorably on the GOP and Jeb Bush. This is one case in many where ex-Fox News reporters who left the network reported interference on stories that did not cast a positive light on the Republican Party and George W. Bush.

Speaking of Florida let us not forget George W. Bush’s cousin who was hired as a election night commentator and called the race early despite knowing it was to close to call. Curiously, he called the race for Dubya after a telephone call with Cousin George and uber strategist Carl Rove — thus giving Bush the appearance of a victory and that Gore had to “steal” it to win. And the right wing calls Fox News a credible network? Anyone who does I call you a liar here and now. I would also call you a liar to your face.

Do not get me wrong here. I have no problem with a network that caters to the right wing. Just don’t lie about it and insult our intelligence by saying it is “fair and balanced” dozens of time an hour. I guess the old adage that if you tell a lie often enough you will believe it is very true as in this case and also the lies told to sell the war.

I can give example after example of REAL bias at Fox. When the right wing tries to give examples of the urban myth that is liberal bias in the media their slanted interpretations become subjective and turns out to be nothing when examined in totality.

Republicans allow themselves to be lied to by the fat-cats at the top (Lay, Elders, et al…). All of the corporate scandals of late were companies run by Republicans who know they can get away with lies while lining their own pockets at the expense of the shareholders but no problem! They have their GOP working class stiffs to protect them! Why? Because the republican rank and file believe everything that is spoon-fed to them without question.
