    ;-)

  2. BUSTED! You back home yet?

  3. Yeah :-(

    DAMMIT! Just yesterday. UGH!

  4. Aw, you poor guy!

And you were really getting your gig on there, too.

You’re not alone. I have friends who just got back from Germany Tuesday. But they were there two weeks and were ready to come back after the first week. I’ll tell you that story later.

  5. Bill Maher is on NORML’s Advisory Board?

    That explains a lot!

  6. Wow; looks like I peaked too early :) Lisa, did you post this just for me??

  7. Welcome back Choses!

  8. Welcome back, Chooses – - place hasn’t been the same without you. Honest, I mean that. :)

  9. Yes, lee :)

I read this article and it made me think of you.

  10. This makes me happy :)

  11. Choses
So flippin glad to see you back and happy you had a safe trip home…I missed you :)

  12. Aw gee, thanks Lisa :) I should mention though that I only use NORML for their links to information. I support the cause, but ever since I saw their local chapter at the university here was running a petition to ban military recruitment on campus I lost respect for the people involved and won’t associate myself with that.

With that said, I think we probably already debated the air out of this issue on the thread that was supposed to be about Anheuser-Bush; maybe we could use this one to discuss beer :)

  13. (Still functioning under the influence of jet lag)

    Thanks all well-wishers.

Glad to know my presence was missed. Over the last week or so I did not get a chance to check in to see the hot topics.

Lee… your advice re Padua was solid. I stayed two days. La Basilica di Sant’ Antonio di Padova was amazing. Although I always wonder if the reliquaries actually hold legitimate body parts… kind of macabre…. (however don’t forget this observation is from the heretic Protestant)
We stayed just across the square at the most wonderful hotel. Thanks for the help.

Sandy?? Did you keep the regulars sufficiently challenged darlin’?? (Why do I even question it….?)

Lisa S? Mille grazie per la tua benvenuto (Thanks for your welcoming me back) ;-)

Anyhow. Gotta take care of business and see if my brain can join my body on this side of “the pond”. So far … NO LUCK :-(

The inflight movie on Lufthansa coming home was “Chicago”… the turbulence was unsettling… I kept expecting them to change it to “Airport ’75″…

    Gawd, I hate flying.

Upon arrival at Logan Airport (and considerable scrutiny) the last Security Guard before leaving the terminal said “welcome home”.

    Sounded nice somehow.

(Paranthetical observation: Did I miss some dialogue re legalization of pot in a thread previous to my discovery of BH??? Dammit. Hope not. Boy do I have a story about this very topic re my stay in Venice…. hehehehe)

  14. NORML Lobbier: Yes Senator Clinton, we would like you to vote “yes” for the upcoming bill to legalize doobage…uh…marijuana.

Senator Clinton: Okay, but what do I get out of it?

NORML Lobbier: What you you get? (check pockets, looks around, open briefcase) How about a quarter bag of indigo?

Senator Clinton: Are you paying me off with pot?!?!

NORML Lobbier: Yeah, but if it passes it’s legal.

Senator Clinton: Oh, yeah! That’s right!

NORML Lobbier: Tell Bubba to inhale this time…

  15. No, Choses, you didn’t miss anything. Just go to the Drink Up! entry from a few days ago, and you’ll be up to speed.

  16. Choses
I haven’t been challenging anyone…I’ve lost my will to argue lately :) Maybe you can throw me a bone…haha..

  17. Hi Choses,
Glad you enjoyed Padua; I went there a couple times and even used the Basilica for one of my terms papers in the class I took on the Italian Renaissance. I had sent you some other info too, but I think it may have drifted off into the archives before you got to read it. Especially if, like me, you never read the stuff on the left and realized the threads didn’t just “disappear” as they scroll off the screen!

Anyway, if you dig into those archives from a few days ago to the “Drink Up!” posts you’ll be up to speed on the pot legalization debate. I think I riled some people up :)

Good luck with the jet lag; I’m off for the weekend now myself so will be off-and-on as I have time.

  18. PS – As a fellow outsider (agnostic) I agree; the whole body parts thing to me just really seemed rather gruesome. The body parts are real, although I’ve often wondered how they can be sure sometimes they actually come from the people that they say they did. There’s a church in Florence I went to a couple times that has an entire body of a 16th (I think) century Cardinal under glass. He’s pretty well preserved for his age; the church is on the other side of the piazza by the Acadamie (the museum where “David” is housed). I don’t know why, but I just found that strangely fascinating. It’s such a morbid aspect to Catholicism.

  19. And then there are those of us who simply don’t believe in dead bodies on parade, but that’s a discussion for another time.

Choses, take care. Sandy, we’ve discovered, has been known to throw hammers. ;-)

    Have a great weekend everyone.

  20. Sasha
Man, you are gonna get it….you’re making me angry and you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry..haha..kidding..
I’m having an all girl “man bashing” cocktail dinner tonight, all of ya’lls ears will be burning by midnight..:) Have a great weekend yourself Sasha my dear…

  21. p.s. want to clear up my party tonight…one of my close friends is getting a divorce, she caught her man cheating….oh the fur will be flying in my house..us “pot stirrers” are gonna be fired up…I have a feeling my blender will be working overtime trying to keep the margaritas flowing…

  22. What an image, big, mean, green and redheaded!! :) Sure hope there’s no one in the “Hulk” that’s on the banned list; I really want to see that one.

PS – I sure hope your hubby has something better to do tonight; those parties are NO FUN for the nice guy caught in the cross-fire :)

  23. Sandy, I tease out of genuine affection . . . well, that and the fact that it’s fun and I know you can take it in the spririt it was meant. Though I must admit my stomach did that drop thing when I read your opening line. 8-)
Have fun, but do so in moderation. I’d hate to hear about you ladies getting all liquored up, calling out for pizza, and then when the delivery guy arrives, you use him to act out scenes from Thelma & Louise, Extremeties, La Femme Nikita, The Avengers (the one with Diana Rigg as Emma Peel, not that thing with Uma Thurman), and so on.

  24. Lee, Marvel already has the She-Hulk . . . though after the latest ish of The Avengers, that may not be the case.

  25. My husband is playing volleyball tonight with I’m sure half naked women….my daughter is gonna be spending the night off, don’t want her to hear our “tales” of betrayal by men, don’t want to scar her. Sasha, I never would have thought about the pizza boy scenario, THANKS…:)
I’ll miss you all this evening, I’ll try not to come on after the party and go off on some drunken rant…naw, margaritas make me “happy”. I would tell you all what happened the last time us gals got together but it might scare some of you :)

  26. Uh oh, someone warn Dominoes…

Not up on my comics since somewhere around the late ’80s, although someday when I have money again I may pick it up again. The latest movies have gotten me interested again.

  27. “some people”?

    hrumpf…

*skulks in corner, muttering to himself*

  28. Sorry Alf; no offense. I take a little personal pride to know I got the goat that I didn’t think could be gotten. Hmm, did that make sense?

I riled the great Alfredo!! :)

  29. Oh… a lot of people get my goat, and my sheep and cat and my weasel for that matter. I usually just sit here and steam up the monitor. Hell, everytime we have a thread on Michael Moore, I have to vent lest I get the urge to put on my “Moody Loner’s Rod and Gun Club” t-shirt. :o

  30. Heh heh, think I’ll let you keep your cat. I remember from previous posts what your little furry feline companion is capable of ;)

Hey that gives me an idea; wipers for monitors! Better call the patent office…

  31. Only when she eats cabbage.

    *ducks*

    Wow, a flying cat!
