As we near the end of 2003, we are bound to be innundated with the “Best of” this, and the “Worst of” that – as we trundle along into the new year. Don’t get sucked into what the liberal media considers to be the best and worst, because you just know that it will be tainted, biased, sometimes untrue and always with a spin that couldn’t be duplicated at the hand of even the most talented Major League pitcher.
The liberal and entertainment media has it’s own “Worst of” in 2003 – and we have ours – brought to you by your very own Right Voices staff – formerly of Boycott Hollywood.
We had our own lows in 2003 when the high powered William Morris Agency tried their utmost best to shut us down for speaking out against the Hollywood liberals. They didn’t get very far, in retrospect. It was an experience that was odd for me – - your typical small town girl who doesn’t bother anyone, and no one usually bothers me. Until I developed Boycott Hollywood – well, lets just say that it’s been an eye opener.
I’ll never forget this one – courtesy of Day by Day – by Chris Muir:

The cease and desist letter we received from the William Morris Agency was probably the best thing that could’ve happened to this website, in hindsight. We received more traffic, more exposure, attention, media coverage and support after William Morris’ VP David J. Kekst contacted me with his weak attempt to shut down my freedom of speech – so I shall extend my thanks to him in this turn of the New Year.
Mr Kekst – you’ve made my year exciting, I’ve met some incredibly great people and have shown me that, for the most part, people out there are good, and giving – at least they have been to me, here, in support of our message that the Hollywood elite do not speak for the average American when it comes to our love of this country, our support of it’s current leadership and our solid patriotism that’s felt down to the core, for many of us.
So, on to our “Worst of” list for 2003 – if you have a few to add and share, please feel free to leave a comment!
- Barbra
Streisand, the New York Post’s “Page Six” column asserted on
Monday, “is privately saying that Senator Paul Wellstone’s plane crash was
‘no accident.’ - I’m against this whole, ‘Let’s bomb a new country because things aren’t
going our way’. It’s the cost of human lives I resent. To put American
soldiers in harm’s way and to do everything to change the subject so that
Republicans can keep control of the House – Tim
Robbins - How will the bombing of Baghdad, a city of five million, accomplish a
regime change? – Susan
Sarandon - George W Bush is like a bad comic working the crowd, a moron, if you’ll
pardon the expression – Martin
Sheen - I think that people like the Howard Sterns, the Bill O’Reillys and to a
lesser degree the bin Ladens of the world are making a horrible contribution
[to society]. I’d like to trade O’Reilly for bin Laden. [O'Reilly] is a
grumpy, self-loathing joke," Penn told the magazine.- Sean
Penn - I think war is based in greed and there are huge karmic retributions that
will follow. I think war is never the answer to solving any problems. The
best way to solve problems is to not have enemies – Sheryl
Crow - Are we going to try and talk [to Saddam Hussein] without jumping in and
killing people first?" asks Clooney. "I don’t believe we’re going
to wait until the last resort to do it. That’s what bothers me – George
Clooney - Explaining why she and other anti-war protesters didn’t organize
demonstrations when President Clinton launched attacks on Iraq, Bosnia,
Afghanistan and the Sudan: "It wasn’t very hip" [to protest
Clinton's Wars]. – Janeane
Garofalo - As Bill Maher said last week, how bad do you have to suck to lose a
popularity contest with Saddam Hussein? The whole world is against you, Mr.
Bush. Count your fellow Americans among them – Michael
Moore - Tootsie star Jessica Lange weighed in while in Madrid last week,
saying military action on Iraq as "wrong, immoral and basically
illegal. "It makes me feel ashamed to come from the United States. It
is humiliating. – Jessica
Lange
Brent Bozell, of the Media Research Center, has his own “Worst of 2003″ list as it pertains to the liberal media – some of the more horrendous highlights include:
- Flummoxed filmmaker Michael Moore was handed the "Barbara Streisand Political IQ Award for Celebrity Vapidity" for telling Bob Costas on HBO that the U.S. government knows exactly where Osama bin Laden is hiding, but is lying to everyone with their terror alerts in order to milk 9-11 for political purposes. "I think our government knows where he is," Moore proclaimed, "and I don’t think we’re going to be capturing him or killing him any time soon.
- On the March 7 "Good Morning America," co-host Diane Sawyer passed along that "I read this morning that he’s [Saddam’s] also said the love that the Iraqis have for him is so much greater than Americans feel for their president because he’s been loved for 35 years, he says, the whole 35 years."
- Baghdad correspondent Dan Harris had to multiply the silliness. "He is one to point out frequently that he is part of a historical trend in this country of restoring Iraq to its greatness, its historical greatness. He points out frequently that he was elected with a hundred-percent margin recently." If Saddam said the moon was made of green cheese, you suspect Dan Harris would have passed that along as well.
- Helen Thomas reminded us of the media "mainstream" in the White House press corps, earning the "Begala & Carville Prize" for this objective glance at Bush: "This is the worst President ever. He is the worst President in all of American history."
- MSNBC’s David Shuster suggesting to Chris Matthews that "there are now perhaps two world superpowers. There’s the United States, and then there are those millions of people who took to the streets opposing U.S. policy.
- In May, Hillary Clinton’s auto-lie-ography gained a 60-minute commercial from ABC’s Barbara Walters, who ought to get a cut of the royalties in addition to the "Media Suck-up Award." She reminded everyone of the old Baba-Wawa caricature with fawning "questions" to Hillary like: "I don’t think people realize how strong your faith is.”
- Charles Pierce, who won the Quote of the Year hands down with this
achingly perverse Chappaquiddick sentence in the Boston Globe Magazine:
"If she had lived, Mary Jo Kopechne would be 62 years old. Through his
tireless work as a legislator, Edward Kennedy would have brought comfort to
her in her old age.
Even a fool like Al Franken thinks people who say Sen Wellstone’s death was planned are nuts!
AH, but to the tinfoil hat crowd at Indymedia, DU and Metafilter, this is TRUTH…
*chokes up in laughter while cat looks on in confusion*
Cold Mountain for Cold Hearts. Yet again, all five movies nominated (another posting) for the Golden Globes Award this year as last were made for the most part out of this country. So, as last year the 5 movies for the Academy Awards will also fall into line with the out of country rule. No producers are worth their weight to produce in this country anymore. Especially Miramax that circulated an inner office memo to mandate all future production to be OUT OF AMERICA with Canada as first place to run. Think of the American Civil War filmed on Romanian soil-Cold Mountain.
