Dean Doublespeak

First the statement that reveals how he truly feels:

“I’ve resisted pronouncing a sentence before guilt is found,” Dean said in the interview. “I will have this old-fashioned notion that even with people like Osama, who is very likely to be found guilty, we should do our best not to, in positions of executive power, not to prejudge jury trials.”

Then, realizing his major malfunction – comes the backpeddaling, sidestepping and aligning his “opinion” to match a more rational stance:

“I share the outrage of all Americans. Osama bin Laden has admitted that he is responsible for killing 3,000 Americans as well as scores of men, women and children around the world. This is the exactly the kind of case that the death penalty is meant for.

“When we capture Osama bin Laden, he will be brought to justice and treated in the same manner that President Bush is recommending for Saddam Hussein.”

Someone must have taken Dr. Dean aside and explained to him how OBL had admitted his guilty involvement in the planning and plotting of 9/11. Dean must have missed that newscast somewhere between sealing his Vermont office documents and finding Jesus.

Dean: Bin Laden guilt best determined by jury

  1. Are you sure someone didn’t take Dean aside and go, “Um, Howard…your voters hate Osama, and pretty much would like to see him dead. Just thought you’d like to know…”?

  2. That too, AG – - it’s too simple a concept for Dean to understand, maybe?

  3. Perhaps.

I think it’s just a case of the Democratic candidates once again saying and doing whatever they think will ultimately get the votes. The oldest trick in the book, of course…

  4. I share in the outrage of all Americans that Howard Dean still gets his mug shot on T.V. for us to hear his flip flopping bilge.

  5. I say bring on the Rep-Dem debates… Ooh, I can just hear the Dean fat frying now. LOL!

  6. Gee, remember the guy holds the US responsible for his brother’s death in Laos at the hands of the Vietnamese Communists. He doesn’t blame them, he blames the USA. Go fig.

  7. not to mention the fact that his brother went there with a warning from the state department about civilians traveling to that area during a war. “hey, let’s take a vacation, in… sunny vietnam… yeah…” saddened as I am about the needless lose of any life he shouldn’t have gone… back on the subject, it just shows you how mamby-pamby Dean really is if he would even think that Bin laden MIGHT be innocent… Hmmm?

  9. You REALLY have to wonder whose side the guy is on if he can find the likes of Saddam and Osama innocent, yet insists that Bush is the biggest threat to all mankind.

And that is extraordinarily dangerous where terrorism is concerned — electing him would practically be BEGGING for another 9/11 in my book, as it’s a PERFECT setup. And we CANNOT afford that.
