Pretty Fly For A White Guy – Not!
“I’ve had some good times with him,” Kerry said of Rep. Clyburn, the state’s lone African-American congressman. “I learned how to talk over the loud noise of a garage at a fish fry and dance late at night.”
Clyburn: “I wouldn’t call that dancing.”
Kerry said, “I thought for a white guy I had some rhythm.”
Just goes to show that even when Kerry isn’t Bush bashing his conversation never ventures from being ridiculous.
Are we to take a man seriously in his run to become the democratic presidential candidate when he makes statesments like this?
Are we to take Bush seriously when he talks about defeating “the terrorists”?
Have we not started down the necessary trails to begin the fight in defeating terrorism?
We most certainly have – - so yes I believe we are to believe George W Bush and in his stance on the war on terror.
BTW – what does GW’s stance on terrorism have to do with John Kerry not being able to dance???
I don’t know, but I wonder if John Travolta would support John Kerry. I just had this crazy idea that he could teach him a move or two! LOL…
For the record, I would like it known that I nearly didn’t post that. It didn’t seem to come out right for some crazy reason. LOL…
This is stupid plain and simple..but to clarify things..I’m white, grew up where we had a fish fry every damn Friday evening at my grannys…Bluegrass was playing and we didn’t need the “token black guy” to show us how it was done….Clyburn should have socked him one right in the kisser…what a baffoon..
Reilly,
Apparently you don’t understand the absurdity of “defeating terrorism” or even the phrase “the terrorists.”
Why not talk about “defeating” murder?
The link is that however non-serious anything about Kerry is, he isn’t talking in a ridiculous manner while in power. Why do you not mock Bush when he is has embarked on a “war” against a concept that only requires an isolated individual or two in order to exist?
Micah –
If a candidate talks in a ridiculous manner while not in power, what guarantees do we have that the ridiculous manner will automatically cease and desist once he officially sets foot in the White House?
Let me put it this way: say I’ve interviewed you for a job, and you’ve shown up in sweats and told me absolutely nothing of your qualifications, save for perhaps your uncanny ability of knowing every knock-knock joke known to man. Would you realistically expect me to say, “Well, maybe once I hire this guy, he’ll somehow prove to be better than the guy he’s replacing” and hire you despite everything?
Micah- I think you are trying to knock someone down with your self made importance.
Wanting to defeat terrorism is never absurd…but when you discuss a colleague and the only thought provoking thing you can say is you learned how to yell and shake your money maker…well that’s just shallow.
the thing that micah has failed to understand is this: every organization (even terrorists) need funding and logistics otherwise it’s just a gaggle of people with no prospects of getting anything done… so if you take away that source of funding and the people envolved in logistics you help cripple that organization (even terrorists) get real… by the way this post, if you haven’t seen the title is about Kerry’s racist dancing skills… “anyone for a fish fry massa’” makes me sick the way he is trying to pander to the south and the black vote all at once… and he probably has not rythme, just look at the way he ate that hoagie, teee heee.
Well sad to say but Kerrys fish fry schtick will work in alot of southern areas. I’m from the south and am proud of it, but it’s the truth.
Very good points about the fundings of terrorism, Madbarr!
Was picturing Kery dancing..remember the song..
“It’s like a freakshow baby baby on the dancefloor..like a freakshow..”…hehe couldn’t resist..
Oh for Heaven’s sake.. it’s a JOKE people.
You yank something out of context and attempt to define the man by a comment said in a friendly exchange. There’s simply nothing offensive in it. You are the very people who complain of the PC phenomenon yet when done by someone you perceive as the enemy it’s construed as somehow inappropritate. As my Yankee aunt once said “it’s ALL in who’s doing it”.
Obviously Rep. Clyburn didn’t consider it racial.
.. It falls into that same category as “White men can’t jump”.
Now were we to hold DUBYA responsible for his verbal blunders and malapropisms we’d have someone to “sock” as Sandy put it.
Guess I’ll just “sock” DUBYA for not doing his homework before hauling out asses into Iraq. Now there’s a reason to “sock” someone!
Good Gawd. Of course we can (and had better) take Senator Kerry seriously referenced quote notwithstanding. He’s gonna give your boy one helluva run for his ego. No wonder the Right was hoping beyond hope Dean would be the Democratic nominee.
Kerry, was one of the Democrats who voted for the resolution giving Bush the authority “to use the armed forces of the United States as he determines to be necessary and appropriate”. He’s trying to be pro war and antiwar at the same time. He was asked, “Do you think you really could have brought the Germans, the French along in a commitment to use force”..he brazenly answered “yes” but gave no explanation of how. He’s criticized Bush administration for a “cut and run strategy” in Iraq but he voted against the 87 billion dollar aid package that is essential to our nation building efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
