U.S., Pakistan deny Bin Laden was captured
Pentagon and Pakistani officials on Saturday denied an Iranian state radio report that Osama bin Laden was captured in Pakistan’s border region with Afghanistan “a long time ago.”
The claim came as Pakistan’s army hunted terror suspects in a remote tribal region along the border, believed to be a possible hiding place for the al-Qaida’s leader.
The director of Iran radio’s Pashtun language service, Asheq Hossein, said the report was based on two sources – one of whom later told The Associated Press he was misquoted.
The report said bin Laden had been in custody for a period of time, but that President Bush was withholding any announcement until closer to November elections.
“Osama bin Laden has been arrested a long time ago, but Bush is intending to use it for propaganda maneuvering in the presidential election,” the radio report said.
Is Helen Thomas working for Iran’s Pashtun language service now? Or maybe Howard Dean? The Democrats will eat up this kind of story and swallow it whole and hold it up as some sort of proof of…..umm……something.
Let’s say OBL IS in custody already? So? There could be numerous good reasons why that information would be held secret for a while, before letting the world, at large, know about it. An attempt to smoke out his supporters? An attempts to catch terrorists in the act of planned attacks – preventing them and catching the bad guys. If his minions thought he was in custody – they may crawl into a hole until the heat is off…rather than carry on, business as usual.
Propoganda for the November Elections? Nah, I don’t believe it. However, a capture of OBL, just as the capture of Saddam, should be a feather in Bush’s cap – and he should be proud of it. And it should be something that the American people consider when re-electing GWB in November. In a time when national security is on the top of the priority list – having a leader that is able to take out two of the most dangerous men in the world is a leader I want in charge and on my side!
Maybe they do have him and are not saying until after the elections, so the Dems can’t say Bush did it to get elected. If they do have him I hope the let us no soon. November is too long to wait to hear that news.
I don’t think we have him – - yet…… I do however believe it will be soon.
Also I don’t think it matters if we had him a year ago or a year from now – - the dems will still cry about it – - cause to them it isn’t who is captured it is who is in the White House when the capture takes place.

Perhaps we’ve been looking for WMDs in the wrong place all along. Maybe we are the ones who have WMDs…in the form of Helen Thomas.
