The many roles of Michael Moore
Michael Moore credited in Democratic circles for making President George W. Bush’s National Guard record a fierce campaign issue, is bigger than ever.
The man the nation remembers for turning his Oscar-acceptance speech at last year’s Academy Awards ceremony into a bully pulpit to chastise Bush has said he’ll make an encore at Sunday’s show.
And again I won’t be watching. Knowing what will take place at the Academy Awards makes me long for the days of simple award shows that were about honoring artists and their craft and not being abused to voice political viewpoints.
I’ve said it before and I’m saying it again – - A movie awards show is NOT the stage for politics.
It’s actually rather pathetic.
And yes, for the record I am well aware of the fact that Mel is extremely devoted to his faith. I don’t think it’s something everyone in this day and age can readily understand, and I can only explain it to such an extent.
But in a day and age where we are taught that those who choose not to compromise are by default extremists and should be feared, what can a person do?
Not that I’m saying that there aren’t devoted extremists (the terrorists behind 9/11 come to mind) that are not dangerous, mind you! I just don’t think it’s a good idea to lump all fundamentalists in with the extremists. I feel that one throws out the baby with the bathwater when one makes such a generalization.
And AG not to mention the fact that with Choses finding fault with someone who stuck to his convictions regardless of the obstacles on the horizon shows a failure in his character that speaks volumes.
the main message that was trying to be conveyed by the movie, Choses, was that Christ went through all of that for ALL MANKIND… not just the Jews, Not just us Christians, but all mankind… all atheists, all agnostics, all Buddhists, everyone. No one was left out… there is strength in that message if only people would look at it that away…
My belief is that Christ died and was resurrected so that I would not have to be punished as He was, and through His death and resurrection I could have a closer relationship with God, with Christ interceding on my part because of my many sins… I don’t blame anyone else for the things that I did or do wrong, we will all be held accountable to the only one who is worthy of judging us, Christ. We cannot be the judges of our own character, so who are we to think that we can judge others… That is why I do not hate you Choses, or anyone else… I may not agree with 90% of what you say or believe in, but that does not make me any better than you… in the end we will all be in the same boat.
AG?
Denounce nothing. Observe everything.
Yeah yeah yeah… madbarr..
You’ve stated your beliefs ad nauseum at this blog.
And I maintain madbarr that Christ did NOTHING OF THE SORT for me. (It’d be like me telling you that God made you Bisexual… doubt you’d swallow it) Believe as you will.
He did it for you? Cool. Run with it.
But Christ didn’t go through Mel’s movie of trial and tribulation on MY account so don’t sell that horseshit to me.
Get it? Got it?? Good.
oh… and madbarr?
The only ‘failure in [your] character’ is that you appear to have none.
