Al Qaeda Plot Foiled in London

Terror bombs seized

An al Qaeda plot to blast London was dramatically foiled by police today.

Seven hundred police swooped in a series of 6am raids in the capital and the Home Counties. They found half a tonne of fertiliser explosives – enough for a series of terror “spectaculars”.

The raids came only two weeks after Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir John Stevens warned that an attack on London was “inevitable” and that the targets could include pubs, clubs and shopping centres.

Scotland Yard deputy assistant commissioner Peter Clarke said today: “I must stress the threat from terrorism is very real and the public must remain watchful and alert.”

Way to go Scotland Yard!

And then there’s this:

Phillipines Says it Foils Major Attack

The Philippines says it has foiled a “Madrid-level” terror attack on shops and trains in the capital Manila by arresting four suspected Islamic militants and seizing a large amount of explosives.

If John Kerry really thinks the threat of terrorism has been exaggerated and George Bush’s Administration has been “misleading all Americans in a profound way” – then I don’t want that numbskull anywhere near my White House!

  1. I couldn’t agree more Lisa – - he is an appeaser and we all know appeasement kills.

  2. the Brits know how to deal with terrorism. they have been doing it for decades. the difference between them and the US is that they DON’T take away their citizen’s civil liberties to do it (Patriot Act), they don’t brainwash the public through their media that ‘you are either for or against us.’ that is fascism.

  3. DnB, your stoned man, the Patriot act has given law enforcement a stronger arm in catching and prosecuting terrorists… and as far as I know, no british citizen has the right to keep and bear arms? anyone? you are a bulletin board for all things lefty and liberal and your opinions (IMO) smell of recycled liberal garbage… time to get some new material… and I bet you will find some kind of link between this post and Halliburton…?

  4. madbarr- the thing that I find humorous about dick is that he probab;y has no idea what the actual law states, he just goes by what he hears in the liberal media :)

  5. yep, just a big-mouth piece :o ) Dick, are you really al franken trolling for material? be honest…

  6. Well, both Dick and madbarr is correct about the Patriot Act. it has given law enforcement the “stronger arm” as madbarr states, but it does infringe upon our individual rights.

I am glad it will expire in 2005, and I hope that it is not renewed.

    Ted

  7. nope madbarr, not al franken, i like to listen to rush while dowing oxy-cotin.

  8. i know exactly what the law states. i worked to get a referendum passed in our own legislature to discourage the use of the patriot act by police officers on citizens.

i know the patriot act first hand. i was handed a notice stating that my house was under survellence and could be searched at any time after i was arrexted at a peaceful gathering.

if this isn’t fascism, i don’t know what it. even most retrue republican gropus like the NRA realize that is a new form of government control. when did republicans start going to bigger governemnt anyway/ it used to be the other way around.

i know all about he right to bear arms. for the years i lived in briton i didn’t need a gun becuase not even the cops have them. now i have several to portect myslef from the patriot act. if the Man comes in my house, they is getting shot. god bless america.

  9. your a strange character DnB, and I bet you touch yourself while watching CNN? or reading the New York Times?

  10. madbarr,

no, you are projecting your pastimes onto others again. pass the kleenex and the oxy-cotin please.

    todd,

no you wouldn’t understand, you are american and think people respond to violence, not respect.

  11. dick,

Funny, because todd is Canadian and it seem you are the only person here that is being violent, and yet still no one understands you.

Funny how that works out, huh?

    Ted

  12. The threat to American soil is not as bad as the administration leads you to believe

How do you know what the real threat to American soil is? You say that as if it’s an absolute – are you willing to take such a passive attitude after an attack like 9/11?

The terrorist plans aren’t just targeting ‘some far off asian land’ – - but places like London, Madrid, France, Germany. Does that make it any less or more real to you?

Are you willing to go back to the complacity that we were at pre-9/11?

    I’m not.
