British Audience Laughs at America’s 9/11 Attack
Imagine going for a night out to the theatre in Germany during the 1930s. It would have been quite normal – with not one eyebrow raised in the audience – to be watching a production which showed film footage of Jews being beaten up. This would not be shown to elicit any sympathy, but purely to work up the crowd’s bilious hatred even more.
You probably think that it’s good that the world has moved on and those awful days are just a memory in our history books. Because it just could not happen today, could it?
Well, you’re wrong. It’s happening right now, in Birmingham, England. The only difference is that the victims of the audience’s hatred are not Jews, but Americans.
“Follow The Leader” by Alistair Beaton Charles Spencer , of The Telegraph, this past Tuesday and this is what he had to say: “The satire is so crude, the anti-American bias so profound, the image of Blair as Bush’s poodle so predictable, that I felt my gorge rising with distaste”
“What’s really creepy about this piece is that though it shows the unforgettable footage of the attacks on the World Trade Centre, it can see no justice in America’s cause, no courage in Blair’s decision to support Bush in a war that relieved the world of a vile dictator”
Can anyone believe that a British audience would sit and watch such filth and be laughing all the way through? The murder of 3000 innocent civilians, many of them British, seems to be so very funny to some.
To me this is beyond disturbing.
You say all of that and forget to mention how many people were murdered by Saddam and his regime – - and how removing him from power has liberated a nation – - and….. well what’s the point of going on here you know all of this you just refuse to accept the facts.
Why, for God’s sake Rog, are you equvicating the twqo things? Are you justifying these people’s reaction to the film? That is the only reason to do it.
accept the facts? fact: no WMDs. fact: halliburton is raking in millions of dollars per day fact: the US now has a military presence in iraq.
sounds to me like Rog and DnB were in the audience… and laughing louder than any…? I say this only to show them what they sound like when they say what they say… that it’s ok for those people to laugh at 3000 people dying, but not for a President to let his hair down and poke a little fun at himself? how crass. there is a big difference between laughing at yourself and finding entertainment in the gruesome death of thousands, as some jump to their death for fear of burning to death… and some jump to stop the pain of burning…
Let them explain to the families who lost loved ones on that day why it’s ok for a british audience to laugh at their husbands and fathers and mothers and wives dying… they wouldn’t last long.
and how many English died at the WTC?
“accept the facts? fact: no WMDs. fact: halliburton is raking in millions of dollars per day fact: the US now has a military presence in iraq.”
Let’s disect this post a bit, shall we?
First part: “fact: no WMDs”.
No, not a fact. Thus far, results have been inconclusive regarding this. Per the Kay report, their weapons program was planning on developing a nuclear weapon by 2010. All this aside though, the WMD issue is silly- it was not the only reason we invaded Iraq, but that has been recently covered in other posts. I will let you find those for yourself.
Second part: “halliburton is raking in millions of dollars per day”.
Duh! Of course they are, they are a business. That is what they do. Not to mention, they were by far the most qualified company to fulfill the contract, by far!
Third part: “the US now has a military presence in iraq.”
Well, besides your talent for stating the obvious, yes we do. What is your point? That we shouldn’t be there? Husein was a proven threat- we have every right to defend this country as other do theirs. But again, this was all recently covered well by John in posts so there is no reason to re-hash them here.
Ted
dicknbush- the fact is that no wmds to your liking have been found, the fact is that if not for Halliburton, another company would be making the money, the fact is that we do have troops in Iraq, just as we did in France, Germany, Korea, after a military action. What is your point?
Halliburton execs getting caught taking 6 million in bribes? When? Where is this reported? I thought Halliburton paid bribes
This article reports that Halliburton discovered and immediately fired workers accused of overcharging a Kuwaiti firm and pocketing the money. Only once is it mentioned that the workers are executives, though from the fact that the auditors quickly caught this one and canned the workers, I don’t see where Halliburton is to blame? Employees of the firm did something illegal, were caught, and it was reported. No mention of further kickbacks in the article.
The company, which has been given these types of contracts by the US for over a decade, and is far and away the only corporation with the ability to conduct these operations, is attempting to follow the letter of the law. The Pentagon has been keeping close watch, what else do you want?
Oh wait… something to cling to so as to prove that Bush is evil, the war was only about profit, and the US should never have set a foot in Iraq? Lol. I swear everytime I hear the name ‘Halliburton’ it makes me realize that the Bush Administration really is doing all the right things… this is the only thing left to criticize!
what does Halliburton and F-ing Iraq have to do with idiots laughing at an atrocity that killed 3000 people…? can we stay somewhat on topic here?
here is the point: making up a war (iraq) that is not connected to the threat (al-quaida) for profit (halliburton, et. al) IS laughing at the legitamate suffering of victims of terrorism.
