Conservatives, plug your ears: Liberal talk radio is here
Al Franken and a host of garrulous progressives ease onto the airwaves today on America Left, broadcasting live from 6 a.m. to midnight on weekdays via XM Satellite Radio and three AM radio stations — in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
Mr. Franken will debut at noon with “The O’Franken Factor,” a three-hour daily show airing opposite conservative host Rush Limbaugh, who has 20 million listeners. Mr. Franken once wrote a book titled “Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot” and has named his show as a parody of “The O’Reilly Factor,” hosted by Bill O’Reilly of Fox News.
The name Al Franken has chosen for his show isn’t even accidentally funny or catchy. It is as though he is obsessed with Bill O’Reilly on a multitude of levels.
“My first priority is to get sued by a right-wing jerk in order to generate interest in my new show,” Mr. Franken said in a statement earlier this year.
His first PRIORITY isn’t to inform the masses about political issues – - it’s to be sued to generate interest in his show.
The daylong lineup also includes comedian Janeane Garofalo, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.; and Alan Colmes, co-host of Fox News Channel’s “Hannity & Colmes.”
“There is a great underserved market of Americans who want to hear compelling and funny talk voices expressing viewpoints long absent from the radio airwaves,” said Mark Walsh, president of Progress Media, the parent company of Air America.
Funny voices? I’ve always thought I have a pretty good sense of humor, but somewhere between my wanting my politics straight-up and my funny bone I can’t find in me where I would want to have my politics presented in the form of parody.
Afterall folks – - this isn’t a late night comedy show.
Bring it on!
The liberal talk show will be nothing more than a comedic parroting of what is seen on the alphabet news networks.
It’ll be redundant – who needs liberal talk radio when you can get all the liberal spin on television news??
Hmmm…
I wonder if Mr. Fraken is going to punch the firt conservative he has on his show?
I have a feeling his show will do little to promote actual intelligent debate regarding the issues.
I would like to see Alan Colmes host a spot though.
Ted
Alan Colmes does have a spot in their line-up
limbaugh is the best. No one can touch a fat, deaf, oxy-cotin addicted redneck for un-baised political views!
Well dick, just reading that post tells me that Mr. Lindbaugh has some fine companay in you for those “un-biased political views.”.
Ted
DnB, something about the pot and kettle come to mind…
Bring it on Franken, try not to tackle those speaking out against you… in an effort to support free speech of course.
todd – - a potential dealer? Give us all a break here – - how would you possibly have such intimate details and information about what he was and wasn’t going to do? I don’t think you do and therefore you could not possibly be able to make a statement like that.
