UN bans WMD sales to terrorists
The United Nations Security Council has unanimously passed a resolution aimed at keeping weapons of mass destruction out of the hands of terrorists.
It means all UN member states will have to pass laws to stop terrorists and black market traders from buying, selling or developing such weapons.
This resolution also calls for governments to account for all such weapons, and to develop border controls to prevent illicit trafficking.
However, the resolution does not outline any sanctions against states that do not comply.
Let’s see – - the UN banned the sell of weapons to terrorists – - that makes good sense and makes me think this is more on the “duh” factor than anything else. Common sense should tell nation’s that selling weapons of mass destruction to terrorists is a bad thing.
It’s also not surprising that the resolution doesn’t outline any sanctions against states who do not comply – - Again let’s look at the United Nations and how it dealt with Saddam Hussein for over a decade when he would not allow their inspectors within the borders of Iraq for weapons inspections. What did they do to Iraq? Nothing. They kept wanting to give more time. Endless time.
And when Resolution 1441 was passed – - it too was unanimous and we see how well that’s worked out – - so is this any different?
why pass another resolution that they have no intention of inforcing? didn’t they learn anything from Iraq…? that if you pass a resolution that has no teeth, then when the times comes to bite, you won’t be able to… stupid, stupid, stupid… UN
It is absolutly ludicris that they actully had to pass a resolution for this.
I’m sorry- this calls for my favorite UN quote:
“The U.N. has been declared “irrelevant” or “obsolete” more times than Betamax or eight-track tapes, and yet, like herpes, it just won’t go away.”- Jonah Goldberg
You know- no one cares about the resolutions the UN passes anymore. I actually thought Kofi Anon was a decent person, but over the weekend I saw a clip where he was saying he doesn’t understand why the oil for food situation is reflecting poorly on the UN. .
There is a house bill in congress for the US to withdraw from the UN- I would like to suggest that everyone write their Congressmen and voice your support for it.

FYI…
hahahahahahahahaha…the United Nations pass a resolution? Lots of people getting paid lots of money to do nothing but make resolutions which mean absolutely nothing to no one.
france has WMDs aren’t they in league with the terrorists?
No, there is no evidence France is in league with terrorists. Unfortunately here is no law against ignorance.
Ted
nice Ted!
Seems to me that any resolution passed by the UN is just giving the green light to whatever the resolution is against.
