Text of Bush News Conference

Text of President Bush’s exchange with reporters at the White House on Thursday, April 29, 2004, after he and Vice President Dick Cheney met with members of the Sept. 11 commission, as transcribed by eMediaMillWorks Inc.: PRESIDENT BUSH: The vice president and I just finished a good conversation with the 9/11 commission. It was wide-ranging, it was important, it was just a good discussion. And I really — I appreciated the members.

For the joksters out there — why did Bush and Cheney appear together?

Why does it make any difference? If the Commission is to do what it is supposed to do – then I would think that it would be a bonus to have them appear together. This is not a prosecutorial situation – - it’s a fact finding mission. Bush and Cheney recognize, as do most thinking people, that the Commission has turned into nothing more than a partisan witch hunt. If they were to appear seperate – - and Bush hiccuped at a different time than Cheney did during their seperate interviews. . . somehow, it would be twisted and make headline news over at the NYTimes.

    a better question for a jokester would be why no taping or written transcript? is this being conducted by the KBG or something? or is there something to hide?

    You’re an idiot dick; of course there is something to hide, like our security policy from terrorists… Bush and Cheney are still in office and the not taping and recording their appearance before the commission is called executive privilege, which applies and has applied to every President/Vice President…, they can’t even be tried in a criminal court of law while they are in office… they have to be impeached and then they can stand trial…

    The commission did have people taking notes by the way… did you hear that on the news?

    Clinton didn’t appear alone… he had his spin lawyer aka his consigliore Bruce Lindsey and his NSA Sandy Berger with him…

    I missed that tidbit of news! Why would an attorney come with you? Is the attorney cleared for all info the president has?
