Al Sharpton Goes to Reality TV
Al Sharpton, who failed in his last bid for a new job — president of the United States — now has a job on a reality TV show that guides people on career makeovers. Spike TV said Sharpton will host “I Hate My Job,” premiering in the fall.
“I like the concept of trying to have people discover their purpose in life, and not have the world define them or settle for less than who they want to be just to pay their bills,” Sharpton said Tuesday.
“Reverend Sharpton came from a modest upbringing and became a major political force and presidential candidate,” said Kevin Kay, Spike’s executive vice president for programming. “He’s lived the American dream so he’s the perfect person for our eight contestants to learn from.”
“I’m the working man’s (Donald) Trump,” Sharpton said. “He brings people into the penthouse. We bring them into the house.”
So this show will start with eight male contestants (no women, hmmm) who will quit their jobs in order to take part in a program of counseling and assignments given out by Al Sharpton and a psychologist. Then their performances will be judged by a panel and those who don’t make the mark will be dismissed.
I don’t know about this being a show.
Considering Al said he doesn’t want them to “settle for less than who they want to be just to pay their bills”. Maybe that’s why Al took this gig because he has had much difficulty in paying his bills so I’m sure this steady paycheck will help.
I just find the networks choice interesting and am trying to understand what Kevin Kay is talking about. I don’t really recall Al being a major political force and he never won the support of the democrats to be on their ticket for President. Then there is the statement that Al has lived the American dream. He did? Perhaps I’m just missing the point.
AL Sharpton and reality in the same sentence… amazing.
What he meant to say was, “”I like the concept of trying to have people discover their purpose in life, and not have the world define them or settle for less than who they want to be just to pay their bills, and, i’m getting paid!”
LOL…more to the point, he’s getting paid!
