Coulter Sacked by USA Today

coulter.gifUSA Today has refused to run Ann Coulter’s latest column, calling it unusable and not funny. USA Today editors have spiked a daily convention column they commissioned from conservative controversialist Ann Coulter, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Coulter filed her first report from Boston Sunday night, only to be told hours later that editors found it “unusable” and “not funny.”

“Apparently no one at USA TODAY had ever read Ann Coulter before!” Coulter, who has sold nearly a million copies of her various works and his written a syndicated column for five years, said from Boston.

The article is called “Put The Speakers In A Cage” – read it and decide for yourself.

Meanwhile Leftwing controversialist and Bush hater Michael Moore has free reign on the floor of the Dem convention hall — and has been hired to write for USA TODAY at the Republican convention!

USA TODAY editor calls Coulter’s column Too Hot To Print

  1. this is bad, i like her writing, she may get a bit mean at times but i feel the same anger when listenign to the left, it’s nice to see her just let them have it, i even bought her book treason, great read.

it’s impossible to not know what your getting unless they never read any of her work..and if so what do that say about them?

wonder if mikey will write a letter defending her right to free speech?!

  2. I think that she could have re-rewritten a few things. Why bring up gay men? Why slam women that are corn fed? I didn’t find it ha ha funny though. Ann is very capable of writing a story that can clearly get the message accross.

As for Michael Moore, It was my understanding that he is running around outside, but was denied a pass for the convention.

  3. Could someone please explain what the “Kool-Aid drinker” comment is supposed to reference? I have been called this on another BBS, heard it on Fox and now read it here and I am clueless as to its meaning.

    Danke,
    Ted

  4. Its typical of socialists rags like USA TODAY to bar the truth and apease left-wing scum bags like micheal moore we should boycott the rag and the rest of the left-wing news media

  5. It references the Reverand Jim Jones and the People’s Temple, Ted.

It was basically a cult. Reverand Jim had visions of nuclear holocaust and relocated his followers to a remote loacation in California where he persuaded his people to perform an act of revolutionary suicide to protest racism and fascism. They committed suicide by a glass of poisoned blue Kool Aid.

Kool Aid drinkers refer to blind sheep following the herd. :)

  6. Lisa,

Just to correct you a bit. Jones had relocated his cult to Guyana. A Congressman went down to investigate allegations (true) of abuse. The Congressman was killed at the airstrip as he was trying to leave. Jones ordered out the kool-aid and ordered his followers to drink it, only this time it wasn’t a drill. I think over 400 people died.

  7. Lisa,

Not that it matters to the point of what “kool aid drinkers” refers to, but the Jim Jones’ / People’s Temple mass suicide occured in Jonestown, Guyana. A Congressional delegation was about to visit Jonestown when the suicide occurred.

You are right that the suicide was done by the 900 men, women and children who were followers of Jones to protest racism and fascism, but many believe that Jones called for it because of the pending visit from that delegation that would have exposed the Peoples Temple as a mind controlling cult.

(It should also be noted that the suicide was actually part of Jones’e teaching, and the group regularly did mock suicided as part of their beliefs.)

It was and still is a horrible event.

    Take care.

  8. I personally like Ann’s articles, it’s not too often that you find a person that is right wing that will write. Or newspapers will not publish them.. Perfect example USA Today, but it IS funny how they will publish Lefty articles all day long no matter what they are about.

  9. Ooops.

PCD was hitting “post” as I was still typing. (And yes, I am a slow typist.)

I don’t mean for it to appear as if I was piling on.

    Sorry

  10. Ahh- I see. I am familiar with the Guyana incident.

It kind of makes sense, but it seems a bit extremist to draw such a parallel. What is strange is that I’ve seen it drawn on both sides.

    Ted

  11. well, at least we have the Jim JOnes story tied up. I was close – thanks for backing the rest up , gita and PCD. :)

  12. Any bets on how many inches they give Michael Moore when he covers the RNC?

  13. Larry,

You mean how many pages or column feet, not column inches. That fat pig will get all that fat body can spew.

  14. “little Dennis Kucinich” LOL!!

I am not a fan of Coulter but I think USA Today should show some balls and print her article.

  15. I hope she at least got her money up front…..

  16. I am not a fan of Coulter but I think USA Today should show some balls and print her article.

Actually, I would just be happy if newspapers showed the same level of editorial license when dealing with people such as Ted Rall.

(It is humorous to note that Gary Trudeau of Doonseberry screamed about censorship when a consortium of papers in the south decided not to carry his cartoon anymore. This once again illustrates a lack of understanding of the First Amendment. It also illustrates the idea that according to many of the left, removing a column or conservative columnist from a paper is “editing,” while removing a liberal from a paper is censorship.)

    Take care.

  17. I have already requested ann coulters SLANDER at our library i cant wait to see what the left-wing idiots are saying behind our backs while the liberal left-wing news media look the other way

  18. ann coulter complains the political discourse is not ‘elevated’ enought for her tastes. the sheer hypocrisy of her existence should embarrass those of you calling people who don’t agree with you childish names.

Jefferson and Hamilton were at extreme end of the political spectrum, and somehow both managed to contribute brilliantly to America. Remember America?

  19. shiloh,

I am never going to be embarrassed by someone’s “existance.” I may be embarrassed by someone’s actions, thoughts or words, but not their “existance.”

As to your other point, it can be said that the rancor created by Jefferson and Hamilton helped the country because they were so vocal in their opposition to each other and the other’s ideas.

Neither objected to using inflammatory language when describing the other. Both used surrogate writers to attack the other.

Heck, Hamilton was killed in a duel by Burr who was a political rival.

(Anyone for Coulter and Franken at 20 paces??)

There will always be extremes of the spectrum such as Hamilton, Franken, Jefferson and Coulter.

What makes America “America” is the right and the abilty of the average person to hear the thoughts and ideas of these people, decide for themselves which ideas they agree with, and then use their votes to help impliment them.

I think most of us are tired of the nasty and hateful rhetoric though.

    Take care.

  20. Interesting postings by all of you. Very enlightning to hear educated points-of-view, even if sometimes they don’t favor mine. I am just needing to vent with all of the political bias going on by the DNC and apparently by USA Today. I am quite frankly sick and tired of anyone who does speak out against the President (i.e the Dixie Chicks, Linda Rondstant sp?, etc) can say how they feel and that’s freedom of speech or they are just exercising their First Amendment, but the “right-wingers” or “conservatives” or anyone who speaks against them is not? Or does not have that right to speak out against them? Or not buy their records, books, etc? I totally agree that everyone in this country has the right to say and speak their mind, or wear a flag pin or not. But don’t get upset when someone speaks their mind in return or wears a flag pin, or stomps on a Dixie Chick CD, or chooses to say how they feel even if their article does not get printed. I really agree with gitarcarver about what makes America what it is. You can spew all of your socialist Anti-American points of view all day long, and I will be right behind you exercising my freedom of speech to call it such.
