Dreyfuss On Bush

Richard Dreyfuss Slams Bush

The Kerry campaign has been adamant that this Democratic convention not turn into an occasion to bash President Bush.

But the message has not gotten to Richard Dreyfuss, the actor who addressed the California delegation at its Tuesday breakfast.

In a speech that went on so long that California Democratic Party Chairman Art Torres began to hover nervously at his side, Dreyfuss called Bush “arrogant and incompetent” and said “his appeal to patriotism is simplistic and thuggish.”

Dreyfuss added, “He is the enemy of thoughtfulness.”

“I wasn’t raised in George Bush’s America, and I wouldn’t be comfortable in it,” Dreyfuss said. “In this America, you point toward a sin and you are pointed at. You are the irritant not the gatekeeper. You smell funny — sinister funny. Terrorist-friendly. You mention due process and the silence is not respectful, it is ominous.”

The Kerry Camp and how they have come out about Bush bashing is laughable. The Bush bashing has never stopped and is in fact increasing. Plus, the Kerry Camp are at the head of the Bush bashing line.

Hypocrites.

Dreyfuss received a standing ovation for his speech and his slamming remarks about President George W. Bush.

So much for positive speeches by democrats and those who support Kerry and the end of Bush bashing.

  1. He could have have stood mute and they would have given him an ovation. Maybe they were just happy he was done! How sad that they can’t even get it together.

  2. “Camp Kerry in no way endorses what was said by Mr. Richard Dreyfus… Off the record, one hell of a speech, huh!? … Oh, we’re still rolling?”

  3. Well i will never watch another dryfuss movie again and thats too bad i kind of liked CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND these hollywood jerks are getting too damn liberal and too damn left-wing

  4. I remember hearign before that a Patriotic film company was in the works, anyone have the Web address I would like to star in some movies put together by a Patriotic Film company.

  5. I live and work in Hollywood and can tell you from personal experience that most of these people don’t have the sense OR knowledge to comment on world affairs. Most f them parrot what they hear without knowing what they are talking about. Dreyfus? Arrogent, unlikable boob!

  6. I refuse to patronize anyone who insists on airing views with which I disagree.

  7. Arrogant, hypocrite, jerk, damn liberal, damn left-wing, senseless, ignorant, unlikable boob. Where does this hate come from? How can one be called a parrot that agrees with and repeats what’s said by those with similar beliefs, but another person with opposite beliefs can not be?

In 1969 I walked door to door collecting signatures on a petition to bring our boys home from Viet Nam. A few shut their doors, but the majority whether they agreed or not with my belief politely said no or invited me into their home to discuss the issue. Afterwards they either signed or if they still disagreed we just smiled, said thank you, and I went on my way. The angry name callers were 99% of the time in groups, 2 or more. It was impossible to talk to them in a group, but what I found over and over again was once I approached them outside their group they were willing to talk, more accepting of ideas, and on occasion even agreed with me. What I discovered from listening to them was that some of them knew nothing about politics, civil rights, and the war, so they went along with their friends or with what their parents thought; others understood but didn’t have the confidence to stand up alone for their beliefs; and only a few just thought it was cool to stand in a group and yell put downs no matter what the issue. Those of us that supported civil rights and were against the war were called communists, passivists, n***** lovers, anti-American, and bums. I learned about politics, The Constitution, Bill of Rights, civil rights, war, and death, as a teenager. I saw young men’s dead bodies at dinner time on tv. I remember my teacher crying in class when we were told President Kennedy had just been shot, the sadness over Martin’s murder, and how I cried when I heard about Bobby. I was afraid. I saw what hate can do. I thought the whole world had gone crazy. It was hard to believe there were people in the world that wanted to hurt or kill you for the way you think or what you say. Our ideas of peace and love were a little naive, but what good has ever come out of anger and hate? I’ve been told by new U.S. citizens that they came to this country because in America you are free to believe and speak without fear of going to prison, getting shot in front of your family, or being hung from a crane on the street corner.

Your posts above show you hate or dislike what RD says and believes, so what’s the answer? We can’t agree with everyone. How do we decide which American is right so we can all agree to be just like him or her? And if we do this we’ll no longer have a democracy or republic but more of a dictatorship. It’s quite a catch-22. Either we hate those that don’t agree with us or we give up democracy. By the way, I supported Bush in his first campaign for President. Over time I read every Bill and Executive Order he was involved with or wrote, taped every speech and hearing just to keep, I avoid the tv and radio entertainment programs referred to as cable news (except CSPAN), and kept an open mind, until late 2003-2004. I had all the facts, put them together, and walked away from my party. I gave him every chance, but I have one documented lie after another. He did it to himself.

  8. One documented lie after anotjher? What is ther source of that documentation? moveon.org? Michael Moore?

Bush is far from perfect, but where would we be had Al Gore won in 2000? Yeah, Al Gore, the traiotr who just went over to Saudi, took money to stand up and sell out America, spewing lies that will no doubt be used to inflame more hatred against America and recruit more jihadists who will then go out and kill more Americans/innocent civilians.

Would we be better off if Kerry had won in 2004? I’d like to see someone make the case that we would.

Bush and the Republicans fall way short of what we need. But they are vastly better than the opposition.

  9. Carol, I don’t believe a word you wrote. There are so many lefties who fake being what they are not to avoid the baggage of their true beliefs. I think you are another Democrat trying to undermine the President at every turn and you stop at nothing to do so.

  10. 9- she can’t be the sharpest knife in the drawer given that she posted on a 2 year old subject.
