‘Fahrenheit 9/11′ Shown on Prime Time TV in Cuba
U.S. director Michael Moore’s anti-Bush documentary “Fahrenheit 9/11″ was shown on prime time Cuban state-run television on Thursday after playing to packed cinemas for a week.
In a country with a deep-seated distrust of U.S. governments, the film has generated widespread public interest and added to a recent barrage of official criticism of President Bush.Cubans have stood in long lines to buy tickets to see rough DVD copies projected at 120 cinema theaters across the island to unfailing applause.
“We hope this film will lead Americans to see the reality of their government, and not only deny Bush reelection but put him on trial for the harm he has done to humanity,” said retired worker Armando Rodriguez.
“The film is a work of love for humanity. It confirms what many of us believe, that George W. Bush is a real threat to the world,” said University of Havana professor Arnaldo Coro Antich.
Castro is so paranoid that the United States is going to over throw him that it is no surprise at all that he would love this piece of propaganda and allow it to be seen throughout Cuba. It is also no surprise that those interviewed would state how much they liked the film and how they hate President George W. Bush.
In Cuba people are not allowed to speak out against Castro and they also aren’t even allowed to have internet service in their homes and are jailed if they access the web because it is illegal for everyone except those who are part of Castro’s government – - therefore they don’t get to view all the news throughout the world as we do here in America and as many other nation’s do abroad.
These people only know what they are shown on television and what they are allowed to hear on the radio – - they have lived in a communist state for decades and generations – - is it really any big surprise Moore’s film would be a hit there?
Not at all.
Castro will never allow the people of Cuba to see all the good President Bush, the current administration, our troops and citizens are doing not only for America but for the entire world.
He doesn’t want them to know how successful we are in having liberated a nation from a dictator and are rebuilding it to be a country that can be productive for all its citizens.
Again, no big surprise.
Maybe micheal moore will become a propeganda maker for busy whiskers castro? after all they are as a alike as two peas in a pod abd both rotten to the core
I’m not totally up on the regs, perhaps someone can tell me how this is even legal. My thought was that no commercial activity could be done with Cuba or something to that effect. In other words, I could not establish a business in Cuba and obtain income from it. What’s up with this stuff as it seems like it violates those sanctions?
It is being said that illegal downloaded copies of the movie were burned to DVD and played throughout Cuba and then on Cuban television – - therefore it is believed that Michael Moore is not making any profits from the sell of movie tickets or from the viewing of it on Cuban tv – - Just odd how that movie would have gotten into the hands of the people since internet is illegal unless it is a government official. Odd how Castro, a true hater of America and GW got a very good copy of it.
You’ve got that right Reilly!
Do you think that moore will get a award from castro? he(castro) after all is also a big gun control advocate and we dont need to drop sancions against cuba or have better trade relations with castro and his dictatorship
