Ok – how many of you tuned into the Democratic National Convention this past week? I watched the whole thing, from the Clintons to Kerry. I couldn’t turn my eye away from it – - it was like watching a horrible train wreck, you don’t really want to watch – - but something inside of you keeps on looking.
It was uninspiring and terribly lacking in substance. Most obvious was the switch-a-roo with the intent to appeal to the moderate voters..the independents. I don’t know how many times they invoked the name of God, and quoted the bible – - I lost count after 100. This, from the side that, predominantly, wants the phrase “One nation, under God” taken out of the Pledge. Even the chanting of “USA! USA!” from a room filled with liberals, not even mentioning the likes of Michael Moore, Jeanine Garafolo and Rob Reiner…felt very odd to me. Like they were trying on clothes that just didn’t fit very well. The talk of military, the restructuring and building of a stable Iraq, and last, but not least, hunting down terrorists and destroying them.
Hello? We have a President doing all of those things already.
This wasn’t the Democratic National Convention. This was the Republican Convention – Lite.
John Kerry’s speech topped it all, last night. I watched him approach the stage – making his way through the crowd, shaking hands, smiling…pointing…smiling more. He stood up on stage and allowed the crowd to cheer, yell and clap. As he was parading around the stage – I said, aloud, “Nope. He just doesn’t have it.”
I don’t know what ‘it’ is. Charisma? A look of strong leadership and sense of purpose in his eyes? Determination? I can’t put my finger on “it” – - but Kerry lacks whatever ‘it’ is. Bush has it. His father had it. Reagan had it. I daresay, even Clinton had it – - and probably faked it well.
But Kerry – he looked to me as someone trying really really hard to be authentic, real and worthy of the office. He’s trying. He’s trying really hard – - but it’s just not working.
The video taped montage of Kerry’s life started with his life as a child. It moved on to his life as a husband and father. From there, it moved to his service and tour of duty in Vietnam. After that, it fast-forwarded to Kerry’s message today without a single mention of his service to this country as a United States Senator.
That tells me two things. They either want to downplay his service as Senator because his voting record is his biggest downfall – - or, he just wasn’t present in his job as Senator enough to really make it stick. All of the above, I would imagine.
As Dick Morris put it ” “What did this man do as an adult? Kerry’s biography ends at 24.”
Even his own wife didn’t offer too much insight into the man. His daughter gave a short story about how John Kerry, as father – once gave CPR to her hamster, because it meant so much to her. The rest of them talked about what John Kerry will do for this country – because he has a plan. The “plan” was never revealed.
How is he going to build a stable Iraq?
How is he going to improve the economy?
How is he going to create more jobs?
How is he going to provide health care for all who need it?
How is he going to send children, whose family can’t afford it, to college?
I realize that Bush has taken this week off from campaigning. But he and Cheney really need to step it up now – - there are strange, little people trying to get into this country’s White House!
They are in my hometown today! Yea, the President will be here in MIchigan!
I think that we saw the John Kerry that they were able to come up with. There were no Kennedys on the floor every night of the convention this time! How odd!
I am waiting to hear a statement from the Heintz corporation to hear how they plan to give back their tax cuts for the jobs they outsource to other countries. I am also waiting for them to explain how it can seem confusing that Ken Lay and George Soros sit on the Board yet Ken was getting favors from Bush? HMMM
A conservative op-ed writer commented after Kerry’s speech that unless Bush-Cheney “get it” and start promoting their agenda for the next 4 years vis-a-vis negative campaigning, we “may have just heard an inaugural address.” Worthy opponents give credit where credit is due. But, to quote Sen. Dole “I’m just a skunk at this lawn party.”
I think they were waiting for last night in order to move forward Ellis. I for one can’t wait to hear the first speech after last nights presentation!
(I just love that story about you!?
Lisa- I wont stalk, but we are going to be able to get close enough to hopefully shake his hand if not just be within waiving didtance!
good luck, peejz!! I know how exciting it is – - and I’m excited for you!
Just keep in mind – - what I’ve learned throughout my stalking experience over the years…if it doesn’t look like the area is secure (i.e. helicoptors, military, secret service, road blocks) – then you are definately in the WRONG place lol
Have a great day, peejz!
Meh…
I tuned in for Kerry’s speech.
I fell asleep.
Maybe that’s his tactic?
Ted
I watched some of the convention. Now I’m looking forward to the Republican Convention.
CSPAN had all of the old convention speeches playing this week, and it made me miss President Reagan. It was interesting the see the speeches from 4-40 years ago.
Kerry is coming to town Tuesday. I feel so soiled already that I need a bath.
The President is supposed to be in the area next week, too.
I was going to watch it but i could make it past the build up to the speech, the movie of his life about did me in and then with the people coming on stage..well i just watched my new hellboy dvd
I find better things to watch on TV then the demacrats big bray in why should we bother ourselves with the usial ammount of promises they will never keep? its time to flush a pair of johns away
You people are so ignorant. Incredibly ignorant. The evil people who run this world, and America, laugh at how easy you are to fool. Learn about the CFR and the New World Order. Research it. Don’t you find it strange that the vast majority of presidents, representative and judges belong to the CFR? It appears that a person must belong to the CFR to attain high political office in the U.S. so how many of the other contentions are true?
Bottom line, if you know anything about the CFR and The New World Order, you know that the conflict between Bush and Kerry is contrived nonsense. They are both members of the CFR and Skull and Bones, and they are simply engaged in a national version of “good cop, bad cop.” Grow up America. You’re men and women now.
