Battle Escalates Over Vietnam Ads
John Kerry asked the Federal Election Commission on Friday to force Republican critics to withdraw ads challenging his military service and accused the Bush campaign of illegally helping coordinate the attacks as the presidential race took a decidedly bitter turn.
Bush’s campaign advisers denied any involvement in advertisements by the group Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, and the White House, in a new line of attack, criticized Kerry for “losing his cool” over the accusations.
The Kerry campaign alleged the Swift Boat group violated “the law with inaccurate ads that are illegally coordinated with the Bush-Cheney presidential campaign and Republican National Committee.”
The Kerry campaign said there is “overwhelming evidence” that the group is coordinating its spending on advertising and other activities with the Bush campaign.
Bush campaign spokesman Scott Stanzel denied any coordination with the Swift Boat group, calling it “a frivolous complaint.”
What’s this? Camp Kerry wants to silence a groups right to freedom of speech? Isn’t that the First Amendment? Of course it is and it isn’t surprising one bit that Kerry and his people have taken this extreme step of action.
Swift Boat Veterans for Truth have stated clearly, several times, they create the ads on their own. They continued with a statement of their intentions to continue with the ads no matter if the President approved or not, that it didn’t matter to them what he wanted because they want to spread the truth about John Kerry. They also said that if Kerry were a Republican they would be doing the same ads because Kerry is lying.
Kerry is complaining and trying to blame George W. Bush, again, for something he has absolutely nothing to do with. Kerry would prefer we all sit around with dumb looks on our faces and swallow his lies whole and then thank him afterward.
The White House has contacted Kerry and his camp on several occasions to go along with putting an end to ads paid for by soft money that organizations are creating. Kerry and his people have declined the offer. Why would they do this and then turn around and file suit? Because they like the attacks against President Bush that were the center of MoveOn ads and the movie F-9/11. Let alone the countless celebrity endorsements and cracks they’ve taken at our nation’s leader.
The heat is on and Kerry doesn’t like it. Does the United States of America want a President who silences our voices? Do we need someone in the Oval Office who will file lawsuits if we say something he doesn’t like? What kind of regime thinking is that? This is a democracy and he needs to remember that.
How will the liberals react? They will congratulate him on his smart and swift move to battle against the ads. Then when asked about him stomping on the First Amendment they’ll all just clear their throats and say, “But he only did it because all those other people are lying and he had to make them stop”.
I need to get out and buy that book before he has it pulled from the shelves. I don’t know who’s telling the truth, but it seems weird to me that Kerry had the desire, time and money to buy an 8 mm camera and do reenactments in Vietnam.
He chose to go to Vietnam?
He came home and protested against it saying that he too was involved in war crimes?
Now he uses Vietnam as a cornerstone of his campaign, as though that’s what he’s most proud of in his political life?? (why did he want a citation suitable for framing???)
What happened to the years in the senate? I’d like to hear more about what he has done since Vietnam. Maybe with more information, people will see the whole pattern.
I had a step-father with a stack of medals from Vietnam. He never spoke of the war at all, not one single peep. Kept his medals in their boxes in the closet. I think I may have seen ONE snapshot photo of him in Vietnam.
As usial a socialist like kerry is trying to stop the truth just like what bill clinton did he dont want the truth out he is your tyipcal socialist want the truth hidden from the public with the election comming up he is a scoundrel:eek::wink::razz:
Call me loony, but this is what I’m beginning to think:
John Kerry thinks he’s John Kennedy #2. I read that Kerry has known the Kennedy family a long time. Look at the similaritites:
Both war heroes ( I know, Kerry as ‘the war hero’ really chaps my behind!).
Both Senators. Kennedy is one of few who was elected President from the Senate.
Both rich.
Both groomed ( by others or themselves) to be President some day.
Weird, I know, but,…..
Well, the difference, at least from my understanding, is that Kennedy was far more charming and better-looking. He was also decidedly more genuine and witty rather than pious and pretentious, as Kerry is.
To paraphrase Lloyd Benson in the 1988 debates, he is no John Kennedy.
only 2 more months until john kerry is elected president!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lynn,
Kerry is more likely to be convicted of the warcrimes he admitted to before congress.
Kerry is showing himself to be a weak, infantile, loser.
elected most likely to fail:?:
