The Swift Boat Vets break out their newest ad – ‘Heavy Medal’
Vietnam veterans against John Kerry today are launching a new TV ad that shows the Democrat renouncing his war medals ” timed to zing Kerry just before he speaks to vets tomorrow at the American Legion convention. It’s the latest move to undermine Kerry by the group known as Swift Boat Veterans for Truth ” efforts that appear to have sent him slipping in polls and have sparked rumors of a Kerry campaign shakeup.
Latest move to undermine Kerry? How about it’s the latest attempt at getting the truth out, bring a bit of perspective and shed some light on the man who wants to be President of these United States?
I think this is the most powerful yet!
Are you for real? You are criticizing a man who fought in, then protested a brutal war waged outside of international law, and advocate a man who withered his drunken life away into his early forties? Attack the Democrats on issues. Bush has nothing on Kerry when it comes to the past.

Refute these two with publically available documentation: 1 Kerry lied, POWs Died. Kerry was AWOL not only from the Naval Ready Reserve but from his job at the US Senate.

Swift Boat Veterans for Lies is laughable. Just another load of crap for the republicans to use to hide from the truth and issues. It’s too bad we can’t use documents to back up what Bush was doing during the war, he wont let us see how he was off snorting coke and banging hookers while John Kerry was fighting for his country and saving American lives.

Um, didn’t the Vietcong have a role in that? Isn’t that kind of like blaming President Bush for the Beheading of Nicholas Berg? (And No, I absolutely don’t blame President Bush for that).
Calling me a democratic troll and accusing me of ignorance is easy, isn’t it? I’m just sick of the cheapshots against Kerry and Bush alike (like those weighed by Canuck). This election should be about issues, like how to hold the Shiites, Kurds, and Sunnis in Iraq together, what to do about a massive budget deficit, and figure out how the U.S. wants to respond, long-term, to Isalmic terrorist groups. I have heard very little specifically about what Bush wants to do with the next four more years, just attacks on Kerry. This swift-boat stuff is getting far too much attention from the media. This month 64 Americans died in Iraq. That’s an issue.
Zelda- The Vietcong used the words of John Kerry and the other demonstrators against our POW’s. John Kerry gave them what the POW’s were being tortured for. So no it really isn’t the same as blaming Pres Bush for Berg. Who by the way was there of his own free will. It does not diminish the fact that it happened, but the situations are not similar.
Frandy- One of the issues we are faced with is; Is John Kerry suited for the office of the POTUS. Most of us in this forum feel he is not. What he did when he came home from Vietnam is disgraceful and what he did while in Vietnam is suspect. He has the worst voting record in the senate. He has not authored a bill in the 20 years he has been there. He has no firm position on any issue. That is what we are talking about.
Agreed, the attacks should stop. On both sides. Isn’t that what President Bush said just last week? My problem with all of this is the double standard. You cannot expect the President to specifically denounce these ads, but John Kerry won’t specifically denounce the ads put out by Moveon.org and the like. If he has, I haven’t heard it.
Frandy..this is in no way a cheap shot. If Kerry has earned the right to spout off about Vietnam than so have these other gentleman and SINCE none of them are charging me $8 bucks to see and hear their views than I’ll listen. You wanna talk about cheap shots..what say you concerning Michael Moore? He has been vicious concerning our President and he’s turning alot of bucks for it too. I’ll take a “free word” over Hollywood movie money anyday and I’ll take the word of a group of men WHO HAVE NEVER sat beside Jane Fonda.
Peejz, Thanks for being civil. All of your points on Kerry’s Senate record are quite valid. I’m not sure that I agree with your characterization of his testimony after the “Winter Soldier” meetings, but, that’s not going to be resolved. The swift boat adds are something entirely different than the very valid attacks on his senate record. I hope that you can see the gaping holes in the credibility of the SBVFT that have been fairly well publicised. It’s just kind of sad to see this SBVFT campaign having such results when they’re based on very little. Bush’s speech at the UN on Sept. 12, 2002 seems a little bit more relevant now than Kerry’s activities in his 20′s.

I definitely agree that Moore’s movie is very manipulative. A piece of turd, actually. Most of his work is. A good movie on the subject would have asked: if Bush/Cheney had formulated policy based on the wide breadth of intelligence and argued for the war (as they do now) on humanitarian grounds, would most Americans have supported it? But, Moore’s not really capable of that.
Anyway, it’s been fun. I haven’t heard Bush say anything about being a “uniter” this year. Gonna be an ugly campaign. Have a good one
As every SBV has been aired, the Kerry camp has had to change his opinion on the “facts” that JK presented to Congress. “He may have been mistaken on the facts”…that was sworn testimony before congress and it is very relevant to the man’s character. It is your opinion that they are based on very little. The veterens of this country consider it to be a big deal. The only gaping holes I see are the ones in Kerry’s version of his truth. Mr. Kerry made his Vietnam record the centerpiece of his campaign. Therefore it is as relevant as GWB’s testimony in 2002.

Frandy..I would love to agree with you about what is relevant now versus the 60′s…however if I’m not miskatan it was the DEM’s who first made GWB’s war record an issue. Naturally the REP’s are going to respond and I don’t think Kerry in a million years could have guessed how this would have played out. Kerry was quite naive to think his past dealings with Fonda and the Communists party would be overlooked and that his seemingly ever growing popularity would not be affected.
Bush not saying UNITE? I’m confused here because I truly think that is exactly what he’s been talking about since 9/11. When you say unite do you mean globally? After 9/11, my personal feelings were and still are…”Screw everybody else for a while.” This is about protecting and keeping American soil safe and uniting ourselves against the world. Sure we have “friends” but I would like to think that at the end of the day the U.S.A. can take on anyone and I pray we will never be vulnerable to an attack again.

The North Vietnamese weren’t beating our POW to death demanding confessions of War Crimes until after Kerry and Fonda committed the Winter Soldier fraud and then Kerry testified to the Senate Foreign Relations committee those lies. The NVA thugs at the Hanoi Hilton played Kerry live over their loudspeakers while they beat POWs demanding confessions. These POWs are coming forward, the ones that survived the beatings.
I shortened the slogan so people like Canuck could understand it. For you Zelda, I’ll modify it: “Kerry Lied, Gave Aid and Comfort to the Viet Cong, And POWs and more US soldiers died instead of North Vietnam surrendering.” Does that make you feel better, Zelda?

Bush proved SBV is a true 527 that Bush doesn’t control because the SBV are still airing ads after Bush asked all 527s to stop.
Kerry, on the other hand, proved MoveOn.org is coordinated with the Kerry campaign because Kerry said stop to one ad and they did.
Truly independent 527s cannot not take orders or coordinate with party political camaigns.
As a side note PCD, did you catch the conditions that the SBV’s gave to the Kerry camp in order to remove the ads? Though it is not the exact wording, the gist was that if Kerry admitted his testimony was false and he apologised they would stop airing the ads.

I read the entire letter over at WorldNetDaily. If Kerry does do what is right, he’ll be committing political and social suicide. He wouldn’t even be able to run for President of France.
