What Liberal Media???

The AP makes this headline: Audience boos as Bush offers best wishes for Clinton’s recovery .

Except I was there…at that particular Bush Rally. I called my Mom and asked her…. “Do you remember any boo’ing?” She said, “No.”

Chris was there – standing right next to me. I asked, “Do you remember the crowd boo’ing when Bush announced about Clinton?” He said, “No, not at all.”

Then I asked my Dad, who also happened to be there. . . “Nope – no boo’ing”, he stated.

So now there is this : Text of Bush’s remarks in West Allis

Here is the audio from Bush’s presentation in Wisconsin.

As I said, there was no boo’ing when President Bush made the announcement about Clinton’s hospitalization and made wishes for a speedy recovery. The crowd was very gracious.

The only boo’ing to be heard was when Bush reviewed Senator Kerry’s voting record in the Senate.

I’ve already fired off an email to whatever press figures I could think of, including the AP, demanding a retraction of the story!! Liberal media at it’s finest….or worst, depending how you want to look at it.

–==UPDATE==–

The AP has reprinted the story and have omitted the boo’s. And they’ve printed NO retratction! The had the nerve to write that the crowd boo’d and that Bush did nothing to stop us. NOW they’ve taken the ‘boo issue’ out of the article – - and has YET to print a retraction!

Except – here’s a screen shot of the original article:

Click the picture for a larger version

Here’s an update of the AP article – - where they say this:

The crowd reacted with applause and with some “ooohs,” apparently surprised by the news that Clinton was ill.

View Screen Shot here

So, first they say “BOOS” . . . now they are saying it was “OOOOHs”. . . but WAIT! . . . .

NOW – - and updated article – - they are saying THIS:

“He is in our thoughts and prayers,” Bush said at a campaign rally in Wisconsin.”

View THIS screenshot here

So now – - neither BOOs nor OOOOHs – - they’ve completely removed the offending paragraph, altogether. Is this how it’s done? No retractions. . . no responsibility?

In summary:

First the crowd boo’d and Bush did nothing to stop them.
Then the crowd oooh’d
Then – Bush simply announced it to the campaign and then later called Clinton with best wishes.

AND NO RETRACTION YET!

  11. Maybe the liberals such as Leno won’t be so quick to make jokes about Chenney’s heart problems now that it is hitting close to home for them. These hypocrites demand our sympathy but if this was Bush these liberals would wish him to drop dead.

  12. as a liberal, Terry, your last post was completely ignorant, slanderous & plain mean.

i don’t want Cheney or Bush dead or hurt.

    just retired.

    best

  13. Where is the slander? Ignorance and meanness? He made a statement that is true. He belittled no one. That is the problem, you people toss words around that you have no idea what the definition is. Give it a rest! You are just itching for a fight with anyone that you can pick one with.

  14. peejz –
read what was said. “…if this was Bush these liberals would wish him to drop dead.”

    u think this is accurate?

  15. No retraction — but the booing lines are gone from the online article now.

  16. My wife noticed something interesting about both President Bush’s and Kerry’s remarks to the respective crowds they were spreaking to when they reported on Clinton’s illness. President Bush asked to pray for him, Kerry asked his audience to applaud. Which one has his heart in the right place?

  17. the post has been updated with a screen shot of the original article…. and NO retraction!

  18. shiloh, peejz is dead right. There are Democrats that want Bush and Cheney dead. You want a name? Try former Mayor of Dubuque, Walter Pregler.

  23. The Fourth Estate has become nothing more than a Fifth Column.

Blatant and malicious bias like this from a “free” press should not be allowed to continue.

    BOYCOTT the liberal Mainstream Media!

  26. Nice site, Lisa. I found you through Wizbang! I’m going to add you to my blogroll, and push this story and audio out to my readers (what few I have, I’m new).

The AP should be ashamed of itself for not publishing a retraction.

  28. I’ve tipped off Drudge and Fox watch. I’ll also put a note to my friend, Hugh Hewitt. A little national sunshine ought to cleanse the AP of a biased reporter.

  29. Some how the news media claiming their not biased is like al capone saying he is no gangster what a joke anyone who reads the paper or watches the talking heads on TV knows just how biased they are:smile::razz::roll:

  30. Jim – thanks!

PCD – I’ve written Hugh, as well – - and sent it to Drudge, who is also on the story. I don’t think that reprinting the story three different times can be considered a retraction.

I think it was an intentional slam at GW and irresponsible journalism at it’s WORST!

Glenn Reynolds over at Instapundit has linked this story and a bunch of bloggers are picking up on it – not sure if it will change anything, but at the very least – the story is exposed, whether the AP does the right thing, or not.

  31. Good for all of you that have done the right thing!

  32. I hope Clinton’s surgery goes well, I hate his politics but I dont want to see anything bad happen to him. I do think that I have seen plenty of very hateful protest signs about Bush though, and wishing some awful things on him. Signs that said “Where is John Hinkley?” or this doozie, “Barabra should have had a choice” proudly carried by a pro-choice protester.:roll:I want to be fair in looking at both sides of an issue but I do see the left as being a more hateful bunch of people.

  33. I was there as well. There were no boos at all. Only applause when President Bush asked us to keep him in our thoughts and prayers. My mother called me and told me this was being reported and asked me what happened. I was outraged.

  37. The No-boo story has been listed on Wikipedia, but liberals are voting to have it deleted. Please cast your vote to keep it. This clear evidence of the MSM creating news to tilt an election must be documented and preserved.
Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No-boo, and cast your vote to not delete the article.

  38. more paid-off journalists:
your tax dollars at work for a partisan political agenda.

On Thursday, a third example surfaced. Mike McManus, who writes a weekly column syndicated in 30 to 40 newspapers, said he was paid about $4,000 to train marriage mentors in 2003 and 2004. McManus was subcontracted by the Lewin Group, which had a contract to support community-based programs “to form and sustain healthy marriages.”
McManus’ non-profit group, Marriage Savers, also is being paid $49,000 by a group that received a Health and Human Services grant to teach similar principles to unwed couples who are having children.

    unfair/wrong
