Dems Oppose Plan to Air Anti-Kerry Film

The Democratic Party and 18 senators are objecting to a broadcasting company’s plan to air on 62 TV stations a critical documentary about John Kerry’s anti-war activities after he returned home from Vietnam three decades ago.

The Democratic National Committee planned to file a complaint with the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday contending that Sinclair’s airing of the film should be considered an illegal in-kind contribution to President Bush’s campaign. Also, 18 Democratic senators sent a letter to the Federal Communication Commission asking that it investigate whether Sinclair’s plan was an improper use of public airwaves.

Yet for Michael Moore to push the issue of having “F9/11″ aired the night before the election is not an issue these Democratic party members will discuss. They also are ignoring the fact that Camp Kerry was contacted and an invitation was extended to John Kerry to appear on the air after “Stolen Honor” to discuss it – - which would give him equal air time and a chance to explain. It seems the Dems don’t want their candidate to explain anything, they just want him to attack President Bush along with the current administration and continue to use terms like “I have a plan” and “Win the peace”.

  1. Looks like the demacratic socialists are trying to silence the oppisition just typical of these liberals just like when that nazis threatened to send those who listened to forgein radio broadcasts to concentration camps it seems that the demacrats are just about like cammunazis i mean their bad as they come:eek::mad:

  2. AS USUAL, YOUR OFF THE MARK. YOU HAVE NO UNDERSTANDING OF THE IMPORTANT AVERAGE AMERICAN’S ISSUES. THIS POWER HUNGRY ADMINISTATION IS RUINING OUR COUNTRY. GET A GRIP. AS IF KERRY REALLY WOULD DO A WORSE JOB THAN B___.

  3. Jeff, what the hell was that little tantrum all about? Don’t just start yelling for the sake of yelling! At least try to back up your incoherent accusations with something we Republicans are quite fond of…. facts.

  4. Michael Moore wants his movie to be offered on pay-per-view over privately owned cable and satelite stations, but Sinclair is forcing its stations to run an anti-Kerry film on the PUBLIC-OWNDED airwaves that are liceansed for the PUBLIC GOOD. There is a big differance there, buddies!

  5. Don’t forget J. Mulroney – - it is being aired because it is “news worthy” it is like interrupting regular broadcasting to air something of importance. Also they offered equal air time and Kerry declined. So should they have to not air it just because Kerry declined?

  6. How is this any different than CBS running a 60 Minutes story on Bush’s war record? I sure didn’t hear the Left crying about that….

The Right didn’t say a friggin word about it until they noticed that the documentation that CBS used was bogus…

  7. Didn’t CBS have commercials during 60 minutes. That is one difference.

  8. the right wing is mean. meaner than the left, anyway.

  9. 8: You could have fooled me, especially with folks like Michael Moore and just about any anti-war marcher literally smearing the American flag or deliberately tromping it in the streets!!! How is that an act of compassion on the part of the left?

  10. AG – you ar apparently obsesed with Michael Moore. i thought about you last night in regards to the amount of your posts that contain his name. bad breakup?

seriously – you bring him up quite a lot. how come. why?

  11. shiloh was trying a shallow attempt at humor. He wants to talk about the war, not this other “petty” stuff.

  12. Commercials,… um… yeah… I’ll give you that one… Not sure if it’s good or bad???

shiloh, That’s really so subjective, and it really depends on what you are refering to.

hmmm… let me think… generally speaking:

    - The Right is meaner to terrorist – Agreed
    - The Right is meaner to criminals – Agreed
    - The Right is meaner to the folks that want to collect unemployment rather than work by lowering the tax rate for business and providing more jobs- Agreed

Once again we’re in complete agreement!

  13. K -g’afternoon #11 you’ve got it – i’ll play sometimes as you know, but when push comes to shove – you’re right.

DTB -i just threw in that post for fun – don’t even know what we’re talking about. when i saw AG’s comment – i did so with no regard for the topic – which i still don’t know.

    best

  14. Shiloh,

    Good enough.

As long as we’re havin’ fun…

  15. 10: Gee, I don’t know. Maybe it’s because the media insists on jamming him down my throat ad infinitum. Maybe it’s because he’s the King of Ego, and the media refuses to let him just go away, instead insisting on feeding it. Maybe it’s because, to me, thanks to USA Today, he has become a symbol of the true favoritism of the liberal media, and a symbol of the censorship of the right.

Most likely, it’s a combination of all three.

I must say that I’m beginning to wonder about the fact that you’re actually going through my posts, counting the number of times I mention any given person. You wouldn’t be developing an obsession with me by any chance, would you?  LOL…

  16. Hey AG – watch out, shiloh is MINE!

  17. AG – K is right – but i’m still waiting for the answer to my marriage proposal where she’ll play Mary Matlin and i’ll be James Carville, tho i have a full head a wavy beautiful hair. i’m so good lookin’, i gotta wear shades.

  18. K — you can have him.

  19. shiloh, perfect opportunity to do this  . and i am still considering your proposal…will let you know nov 3.

  20. 17 – now i am picturing howard stern – lol.

  21. I hate to interrupt this romantic interlude with the topic at hand, but here’s a very interesting development!!!

  22. AG – now with all the free publicity, i guess it’s not suprising that more stations want to air it – rating is money and fairness is not the bottom line

  23. interesting, AG – and thanks for getting back on topic – i was beginning to feel dirty.

  24. 23: My pleasure, K!

22 (Yeah, I know, not exactly in order, but anyway): Very true, as a certain someone with a certain film and a certain newscaster (among others) have proven in the past. But it’s interesting to see the odds evened up just a bit…

  25. is ‘Stolen Honor’ being presented as news (which i think i heard) or as a partisan documentary?

  26. I don’t know. The word I think I saw in this particular article was “documentary,” so that would be my guess…

  27. Politically-speaking, I think if John Kerry played his cards right, he should accept the air time after the running of “Stolen Honor”, demanding the right to have freedom to say exactly what he felt about the whole thing. If he accepted, Sinclair would attempt to moderate it in a “So, when did you stop beating your wife?” fashion, and he could then make it a political point that Sinclair offered him rebuttal time, then refused it to him, because they couldn’t control the content. If I were running for office, this is what I would choose to do, over just being silent.

The film itself is not illegitimate, anymore than “F 9/11″. The difference is: one is a movie that you had to pay (and, up to now, leave your house) to see, the other is being aired, for free, two weeks before the election, commercial-free, as news.

The only thing approaching balance would be to release “Stolen Honor” in the theatres, or run “F 9/11″ with “Stolen Honor” on TV.

Public opinion is being manipulated here. Some here are for it. Some here are against it. I’m against it. Ask yourself a question: if it were “Faranheit 9/11″, being shown, instead of “Stolen Honor”, would your reaction be the same as it is now? Nearly (probably all) 100% of you here are just rooting for your guy, and it’s transparent.

I wouldn’t vote for either one of these people. They’re both underqualified.
