Suit Seeks Provisional Ballots Re-Examined
A watchdog group sued Friday to try to stop Cuyahoga County’s elections board from rejecting thousands of provisional ballots until they are hand checked against voter registration cards.
People for the American Way Foundation said the board wrongly relied only on computerized registration records, which are compiled from the cards and could contain errors such as misspellings.
Two-thirds of the 24,472 provisional ballots cast in Cuyahoga County were later found to be valid, but the other 8,099 were thrown out, mostly because the people who cast them were not found on the county’s computerized records.
The group also wants people who cast provisional ballots in the wrong precinct to count and not be invalid.
And with all this counting and the lawsuits that have been filed the results will remain the same – - GW won. Get over it already.
The US Supreme Court has already agreed (by refusing to hear the case) with a lower court that ballots cast in the wrong precinct cannot be counted. I rather doubt they’re suddenly going to change their minds. But they could get amusingly annoyed, so there’s that….
Other than the presidential race, does this affect the outcome of another race? Get over it is rright! Move on!
