Sen. Boxer may challenge results of presidential election

Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) is considering launching a challenge to Ohio’s electoral votes when the Senate meets tomorrow to certify the votes of the Electoral College.

The challenge — should Boxer decide to offer it — would force a debate in the House and Senate over whether President Bush’s electoral victory will stand. Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) is planning to issue a challenge in the House. Conyers and 23 other House members today outlined their reasons for opposing the certification of Ohio’s electors, claiming there were “numerous, serious election irregularities” in Ohio.

Isn’t it interesting that John Kerry has been very hush hush about all of this? I mean we have Boxer and Conyers – - then there is Jesse Jackson and his eleventh hour appeal and of course we should not forget David Cobb and Michael Badnarik who were first out of the gate to say Ohio was wrong.

Kerry says he will not contest the results of the election – - but he certainly isn’t telling these people to let it go, could that be because he is the ventriloquist and they’re just his dummies?

The fact still remains that President George W. Bush won Ohio by over 100,000 votes and even though the Dems will have a floor to complain on – - the victory will still be Bush’s at the end of the day.

And yet they can’t figure out what happened and why they lost. This is how they choose to learn from their mistakes.
I just watched an interview with the Democratic Senator from Ohio and he is not privvy to this. He explained that there are some independant people in his party and this represents a small group who are contesting this.

California DESERVES Barbara Check Bouncer as their representative.

Conyers and Boxer should both be demoted to Democrap observer on each and every committee they infest.

I’m surprised the goat roper isn’t here cheering the Democraps on, on to extinction.

#3 – “stop trying to usurp the will of the voters to benifit thier own corupt party”

what??? all they are doing is asking for a debate. ASKING for discussion. To go over the issues. What about the will of the citizens of Ohio whose vote didn’t even get counted before we declared someone president???

the system is BROKEN. that should not be happening. the voters have been crying out over and over and over for reform, for SOMEONE to be asking questions. THAT is the will of the voters. and you criticize democrats who are finally answering… finally bringing those questions to the table.

no one is usurping anyone’s will here. Republicans are being whiny babies about this, isn’t debate their JOB. why are they (and you all)so afraid of the questions that are coming up???

you are all the biggest hypocrites.

Bonnie- How much time did you take to research what you wrote? They have recounted the votes and the results remained the same. If Ohio needs election reform, than Ohio should do something about it. The democrats were banking on another 2000 election and it did not pan out. I wonder what ever happened in the town in Ohio that had more ballot request than registared voters? Oh that’s right, it was supposed to benefit the dems, so it doesn’t count:roll:

“They have recounted the votes and the results remained the same.”

Well thats a debatable statement. The electoral results didn’t change, but not many democrats even expected that to change, thats not the point. The votes did change, Bush won by a smaller popular margin and in the time when they were examining what happened there they have uncovered tons of loopholes, mistakes, and shady areas where votes “may” have been lost, voting machines maybe weren’t working correctly and intimidation or problems in certain areas were reported to have happened.

This is a problem. Even if the final result (Bush in office) doesn’t change, many many people have questions and deserve answers about what happened in Ohio… and what is happening all over the county when mistakes and sloppy politics are happening, people are reporting them and no one is responding in Washington and citizens rights are being trampled on.

I mean, come ON…. is it too much to ask that I get to believe that my vote will actually be COUNTED before a president is elected??? Shouldn’t we even be trying to maintain a facade of democracy instead of silencing and ridiculing ANYONE who even wants to ask questions or have debates…

(I mean gosh!! debates in congress!!! who woulda thunk it!!!)

    Bonnie–

Thats a nice little tid bit you tried to pass onto us but just another perfect example to try to justify the blatent ungraciousness of the Democrats when they lose.

I say that if you can’t run with the big dogs, then keep your ass on the porch. Tipping the scales is okay as long as it’s in your favor, huh?

Kind of like how most libs wanted to do away with the college elect. vote when Bush WON the first term, but they never seemed to mind the C.E. vote when it worked for Clinton, now did they?

Call me naive, but why is it that we are only “investigating ” the key state of Ohio? If people are so concerned about voting irregularities why aren’t any of the other 49 states under the same microscope? Odds there are other states with the same “problems” as Ohio, and with due respect to Ms. boxer, she ought to stick to her own sandbox. As a Californian, there’s enough her to “fix”.
