Billboard Delivers Right Jab To Hollywood

A conservative group is giving thanks where thanks is not wanted.

Citizens United posted a billboard thanking Hollywood stars for contributing to the re-election of President George W. Bush.

“Using a billboard, thanking Hollywood for helping re-elect George Bush is somewhat in fun, but also delivers a serious message,” said Dave Bossie, president of Citizens United. “That is, every action has an equal and opposite reaction.”

The billboards are about a block away from the Kodak Theatre where the Oscars are held – - the group plans to add more in the area.

The people that paid to put the billboard up are thanking Hollywood, namely the actors on the billboard, for getting GWB re-elected. When they go to the Oscars they will see this.

“I thought they spoke out against him, how did that get him re-elected.”

Yes- it was with the radibity that they spoke out against him that helped Bush. It drove a lot of moderates into the Bush camp, and when people like Michael Moore are proved to be liars, it only hurts the Dems cause that much more.

I’d also be curious what, if any, response this gets from its intended audience. If there are any demands that the billboard be taken down or covered up, that will be an obvious restriction of the First Amendment, which Hollywood reportedly advocates.

Lee, I believe you and K should spend a little more time talking about the wines of the world, and a little less haning out at places like this.

Not only will you come to appreciate sip and savor vs. gulp and chug, you will overall consume less wine.

The night train runs only one route: sober to stupid with no roundtrip tickets available, and a strong liklihood of a train wreck along the way.

Getting back to the billboard, we are in a time of war and our country is deeply divided. The billboard(s), I think, are small-minded, disappointing, immature and only further encourage pettiness and division. I would invite the right to seek a higher ground and do something that’s worthy of being proud of.
