Mary Murphy Resigns

CBS Producer On Flawed Bush Story Resigns

A producer involved in CBS’s discredited report on President Bush’s National Guard service resigned Friday, nearly two months after an independent report criticized the handling of the story.

Mary Murphy, another producer and an executive were asked by CBS to leave because of the “60 Minutes Wednesday” report, but she was the first to do so. A third producer, Mary Mapes, was fired.

“CBS News and I have reached an amicable resolution, and I have resigned my position,” Murphy said in a statement.

Murphy, Howard’s top deputy, worked at CBS News for more than 17 years and was head of the political desk covering the 2004 presidential campaign.

OK, so people lost their jobs and CBS lost credibility – - what about the fact that a story was created to discredit the President of the United States and the piece was used to try to alter the outcome of a Presidential election.

And what is going on with the “sources” of the documents? I’ve not heard anything about them for ages.

  1. nuts? it’s the ‘nuts’ you’re referring too? the ‘junk’?
i don’t count that as ‘nipping’, since i explained why i thought what he said was nuts with that junk in no uncertain terms.

little jabs that discount the individual rather than the argument is closer to my meaning.

that’s when mature conversation turns to personal contention.

  2. 51- don’t shoot the messenger shiloh. You asked what I was referring to and I answered. Take the advice or don’t.
“that’s when mature conversation turns to personal contention.” And you have nothing to do with it?

  3. peejz, would you clarify something for me?
what is it in the post you reference that you’re defining as negative?

maybe it’s the drugs, but i honestly don’t get it – & would like to.
    i’m not shooting you, honest.

  4. 53- What people are tired of is statements like the ones I cited. It is like you are lecturing as if you are their father or something like it. This is a blog. Blogs are basically anything goes. No one needs to be lectured from anyone. Sometimes conversations go well other times they don’t. That is the way of the bloggesphere. Food for thought, take it or leave it. Have a good day and I do hope your back gets better.
P.S. If I were you, I would limit the amount of blogging you do while being medicated. You chased youself in a circle the other night and everytime I tried to lead you on a straight path to give your arguement merit, you ran faster in the circle. You just weren’t on your game.

  5. No problem, see ya.
