George Bush knew Vladimir Putin would be defensive when Bush brought up the pace of democratic reform in Russia in their private meeting at the end of Bush’s four-day, three-city tour of Europe. But when Bush talked about the Kremlin’s crackdown on the media and explained that democracies require a free press, the Russian leader gave a rebuttal that left the President nonplussed. If the press was so free in the U.S., Putin asked, then why had those reporters at CBS lost their jobs? Bush was openmouthed. “Putin thought we’d fired Dan Rather,” says a senior Administration official. “It was like something out of 1984.”
It’s easy to see they have no real understanding of America and some of the information they do get is wrong. Could you imagine if President Bush fired the CBS journalists? I don’t think it would have been a firing here and there and the asking for a resignation a few times.
Article of Interest:
Bush warmed France, but Russia’s still a bit chilly
A little projecting going on there, if you ask me.
Dan Rather should be fired, publicly and on the air.
Yes, but not by Bush!! CBS should have had the integrity to fire him.
Heh, couldn’t keep a straight face while I said that
I am having a hard time believing that he doesn’t know the truth to that.
Look at all the trouble surrounding Dan Rather:roll:
And thats becuase CBS stands for the Communist Broadcasting System and i wonder if putrid putin is all broken up over RAHERS little bit of disgrace?
Maybe Putin will hire Rather? It could happen…
7- Dan looks dapper in tall hats.
the President saying “we have far more in common than those things that divide us’, was not really a stinging indictment of Putin anti Democratic.
they’re both Fox news guys.
Maybe his aides should tune into FOX, they may be more informed.
Oh my God, that is hilarious! Now I can REALLY see why we don’t care what these countries think of us…they fail to try to understand us.
You mock what you don’t understand, ey shiloh?
how many times in history, including our relationships with current despots, have we looked away from human rights abuses in order to do business and promote our own agendas?
want a list? i’m sure i can find it under the right’s lumpy rug.
OMG Shiloh, if the left isn’t selling missile and nuke technology for a fuckin campaign contribution, they have looked the other way as much as anyone.
12-what does this have to do with anything
12 – I would prefer you stay out from under my rug, thanks.
K give those rose colored glasses back to Shi:wink:
15, K, next time a lump moves under your rug, stomp on it. It is only shiloh looking for dirt.
17 –
it only ends up under the rug after appearing on page ones & leading the news, judged not-so-good for pre-determined ideologies, ignored, spun & destined for the life of a lump under that ever-widening, growing rug.
that’s true, shiloh. how are you doing today?
We all got shit in our closets.
Whats up Shiloh?
fine, thanks, K.
& you?
22 – allergies a little bad, but overall pretty good. today is your day off, right?
Do you do logistics for airlines Shiloh?
The announcement after only a few days that Russia would sell nuclear components to Iran must be a little uncomfortable for Bush; as he must have made his case directly to Putin. Russia’s been playing the international community on human rights and arms sales since 1994 (the opening of the Chechyn War), and are continuing to.
25, sandy, are you decrying the rush to action? Why Bush only just talked to Putin. Putin is only appeasing the Iranians. Isn’t that what you want sandy? Or are you waiting for the Iranians to start putting people in mass graves, too. Oh, I forgot, if you had your way with appeasement and just diplomatic dialog, Saddam would still be in power and still putting people in mass graves, but what do you care sandy as long as they aren’t roma or your relatives?
PCD – - you sure are stuck on the term “rush to action” today lol
19- now who is wearing the rose colored glasses?
27., well, our dear sandy loves to decry our rush to war in Iraq. I’m just putting the shoe on her foot to see how she likes it.
23 – yes, monday’s off. sun shine, blue skies today.
24- flight plans, weather, cancel and delay the flights. you take it out on the ticket counter folks.
i decide what they tell you, but i’m not at the airport, so you can’t get at me.
28 – partisans on both sides have rugs.
i have no illusions that there’s not ideologues, spinning truth into crap, on both sides.
31- I think you do.
30. I have to fly all the time,,, usually Southwest to El Paso. Any powers concerning a First Class ride?
My guess has always been that shiloh works for Big Sky airlines. But he won’t answer me. What gives, you think I am going to come get you?
33 – uh, JG, southwest doesn’t have a first class cabin.
Im sorry, your right. But they do have business class. Bigger seats.. If you seen my pic on my ole site, im a big dude.
31
i know you think i do. everybody else knows you think i do as well.
that’s what defines your replies to me.
36 – I didn’t even know SW has business class. Being in Phoenix, I seem to always be stuck on America West. And their first class is like the big guys’ coach.
yet, somehow, with all the things SW doesn’t have, it has money to burn and a reputation in the industry that’s the envy of all.
38. True. Going back and forth from Japan, coach had leg room. I feel like im packed in like a sardine every time I got to FT Bliss. There are seats in the front that have more comfortable seats and more room though.
39, 40 – I guess I am just anal – I like to have a seat assignment. Usually, I am the last one on the plane, running from the bar, and end up sitting backwards in a middle seat on SW.
37- Now you are answering your own comments?
42 – Well he would as he has more than one…
oh, i forgot, stiffle, grrrrr. i’ll be quiet.
