Superstar Lawyer Johnnie Cochran Dies
Johnnie L. Cochran Jr., who became a legal superstar after helping clear O.J. Simpson during a sensational murder trial in which he uttered the famous quote “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit,” died Tuesday. He was 67.
Cochran died of a brain disorder in Los Angeles, said law partner Randy McMurray.
With his colorful suits and ties, his gift for courtroom oratory and a knack for coining memorable phrases, Cochran was a vivid addition to the pantheon of great American barristers.
I didn’t even know he had been ill. Johnnie Cochran may not have been liked by some, but he was a good lawyer and did much in the way of defending rights. All of his clients weren’t rich, but of course his most popular cases did involve them – - but he did do a lot of work for people who couldn’t afford a good attorney.
I think he was a good man that believed in his cause. He was a brilliant lawyer and I learned much from his commentary. My heart goes out to his family.
As a side note, before one criticises Johnnie for the O.J. case, take a look at his career. It really is phenominal.
Good reminder and point, peejz.
