Sandy Is To Admit Taking Papers

Samuel R. Berger, a national security adviser to President Bill Clinton, has agreed to plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge and give up his security clearance for three years for removing classified material from a government archive, the Justice Department and associates of Mr. Berger’s said Thursday.

A respected figure in foreign policy circles for years, Mr. Berger has also agreed to pay a $10,000 fine as part of an agreement reached recently with the Justice Department after months of quiet negotiations, the associates said.

He is expected to enter his plea on Friday in United States District Court, capping an embarrassing episode that reverberated in last year’s presidential campaign.

They’ve got to be kidding!

This guy stole dozens and dozens of classified documents from the National Archives and ultimately destroyed most of them. He tore some up, cut others to pieces with scissors and even shredded others. What gets to me is most seem to be laughing it off.

Former President Bill Clinton and others had stated some time back that Sandy is just a paper mess that his desk is always in disarray and that he would never do anything like stealing, but now it would seem they are all wrong because Sandy is going to admit he stole the documents.

I think it would be pretty difficult to accidentally stuff his pants full of classified papers and then argue with archive workers about who he is and that he isn’t turning over his notes for review or going to be searched.

So steal from the national archives, destroy classified documents and slow a major investigation and get your security pass taken away for a few years. Talk about a slap on the wrist.

  1. Way to go Peejz, you got a shout out and as for Sandy Berger he should fry for what he did

  2. Reilly it was a slap on the wrist for Sandy, but a slap in the face to those that wanted answers. This solidifies my belief that the 9/11 commission gave tools for the future, but never gave answers for the past.

  3. I agree, peejz – - I am outraged this is the outcome of the “investigation”

  4. 3-This is mind boggeling to me.

  5. This is unbelievable. For one thing, the timing. The other, the punishment.

What is wrong with our country?

  6. “give up his security clearance for three years.”

Three years?!?!? Why would they EVER give his clearance back?

It should be 3 years of jail.
