Pardon our dust

We’re doing some much needed maintenance on Right Voices. Upgrading to the latest version of 1.5 and re-working some of the back-end stuff. You’ll see some drastic changes, at first — then it should all settle back to normal.

This should take me only about an hour . . . provided I know what I’m doing. :p

  1. So we’re in for a rough ride? Heh, heh. =D

  2. Actually, I’m done :) went quicker than I expected it to – - now just futzing with little detail things. Not too rough :)

  3. you always know what you’re doing – - and as usual the upgrade looks great and seems good to me :)

  4. I love the subtle quotation marks in the comment boxes! Cute!

    It looks great.

  5. This looks great Lisa:smile:

  6. I hate to be the only one to complain, but most of you already hate me; so why not.
Every time I try to post, I have to type something like “17AD” to verify that I’m not a spammer. It reminds me of the Patriot Act; where the punishment to the normal people outweighs the potential benefit of keeping the bad people out.

  7. Sorry about that, Zelda. We have new spam features installed to keep the spammers out, and for some reason or another – your comments are triggering the spam alerts – causing you to be required to type in a security code, to prove you’re human. I don’t think everyone has to go through it – - it must be something about your IP that is triggering it.

I’m still dickering with the spam prevention tools we are using – - trying out different settings to see what works best.

If I were to disable our spam filters, we would get about 5000 spam type comments posted to this blog on a daily basis from the auto spam bots out there – - so I can’t fully disable them – - but will try and adjust different settings to see if it changes how you’re getting caught in the filters.

    Anyone else having this issue?

    Thanks!

  8. Lisa,

I understand the need for spam filters, but have also been “bombarded” with spam karma rejections today. In one case, I was told the post was rejected as I was a “nasty spammer.” That post was later accepted (I had copied/pasted it to Word). A short while ago, a response to someone prompted a spam alert, and the need to type verifying alpha-numeric code. Either I misread the code or Spam Karma “got me” as I was then informed that I was in a moderation queue, and that I could not use the self-moderation option.

All of my posts today were respectful interactions. I’m sure the Spam Karma issues are snags you’re working through.

Other than that, the site looks GREAT, and you do know what you’re doing.

  9. Thanks for the info, Ellis. I had made some changes to the spam filteres prior to your comment, so hopefully you weren’t caught up in the filters again?

  10. Lisa,

It must have been something in my post(s) since the one above went through, and I now see that the last moderated post is online. Thanks.

  11. 12-Be honest ellis, you thought they were blocking you didn’t you?
