Chavez Announces Detention of Americans
President Hugo Chavez said a military exchange program with the United States was canceled because U.S. officers in Venezuela were spreading a negative image of his government to the soldiers they were training.
He also announced the detention of several Americans and said the United States might be planning to invade his country.
The U.S. Embassy on Friday said Venezuela had abruptly and without explanation ended the 35-year-old military exchange program.
Chavez said that a woman in the U.S. armed forces had been detained by authorities while taking pictures of military installations in central Venezuela. He did not identify her or say whether she had been released.
“If she or any other U.S. official does this kind of activity again, they will be imprisoned and face trial in Venezuela,” he said.
Who is this guy? A Castro wannabe?
If he thinks she was “spying” by taking the pictures maybe Jimmy Carter should make a call and explain satellites to him.
When I read articles like this about Castro, Chavez and others who make statements that the United States “might be planning” an invasion it makes me think they just want to be in the news and feel left out because there are bigger tyrants in the world who are getting more attention.
Just last week they decided not suspend our oil purchases, which accounts for 15% of our oil imports. Our relationship has been strained with them since Chavez was elected 6 years ago. He and Castro are thicker than theives. He is beginning to show signs of paranoia.
What else dose one expect from a buddy to busy whiskers castro? they are your bosum buddies to peas in a pod two birds of a feather(vultures)and you avrage a bit like mussolini and hitler:cool:
