Barbara Boxer’s bogus Bolton broadside
What do Nostradamus, “Star Trek” and the Book of Revelation have to do with the Bush administration’s nominee for ambassador to the United Nations?
In an attempt to deep-six John Bolton’s nomination, Democrats placed stories in The Boston Globe, USA Today and CNN citing a women who claimed Bolton threatened her – the very same woman who published an article on newsmax.com using those sources to predict world peace was at hand.
Those articles also failed to mention the fact that Lynne Finney, the women who claims she was abused by Bolton, has problems with her memory. And that’s not all that makes Finney’s testimony suspect. She turns out to be a former Democratic political appointee, too. President Jimmy Carter twice appointed her to positions in the federal government and later gave her an award at a White House ceremony.
And how do we know all this about a woman who has “created many realities for herself,” you might ask? Do we have super-secret sources and nasty opposition researchers working for us? Nope, we read her self-promoting Web site. That’s something the USA Today, Boston Globe and CNN reporters could have done for themselves before they launched Sen. Barbara Boxer’s loopy charges into the public domain.
This editorial is not only informative, but is also entertaining. It offers some good links as well as a Google search hint. Take a minute and give it a full read – - It is amazing just how far the Dems are willing to go to keep Bolton out.
Good source – The Examiner? What about all the other folks (including Republicans) who have come out against Bolton? Your attack on Dems is hardly “fair and balanced.” Bolton is not the guy.
If you notice I wrote that it is informative and it is – - and then I wrote it is entertaining – - again, it is.
You are always talking about being fair and balanced – - this isn’t FOX News, Ellis – - this is my opinion on the topic and I believe Bolton is the guy and have stated many times why I believe that.
How fair and balanced is it for you to state he isn’t the guy and then give no reasons as to why you think that and you didn’t even state who you think is the person for the job
When I first heard about John Bolton I thought he sounded perfect, but now I’m not so sure. Maybe he isn’t the right guy for the job.
2. Reilly, I have posted a number of times with reasons why I disagree with the Bolton nomination. I don’t think it’s productive to repeat those posts at every juncture. You also posted that “It is amazing just how far the Dems are willing to go to keep Bolton out.” That is a pretty strong statement that focuses the issue to your point (IMO).
BTW. I disagree with Fox News’ slogan. It is not fair and balanced – again IMO.
I see that just like clarence thomas the liberal left-wing demacraps will do anything to prevent boltons nomination and it looks like barbra boxer is being their anita hill it just shows our much manure the demacrats are leaving behind:eek:
4- And I bet you had not problem with Richard Holbrooke. IIRC, he was a man that had an abrasive personality, but the dems saw nothing wrong with that. So what is the difference?
I do find it amazing how far the Dems are willing to go, Ellis – - yes, I’m aware that there are some Repubs too who do not want him – - but the majority of those opposing him are Dems and they are reaching and reaching to try to find reasons he shouldn’t be the man for the job.
If you do not believe FOX News is fair and balanced then why do you think a blog titled “Right Voices” is? We are definitely not sheep around here and don’t believe in everything the current administration is doing – - and we do state our disagreements just as much as we state our agreements – - but for all basis purposes just how fair and balanced do you think “RV” is and should be?
Yes, we very much like that the discussion in the comments comes from all political walks of life – - it makes it diverse, but then again you state to me that I wasn’t being fair and balanced – - and yet your own comments aren’t fair and balanced all the time either, Ellis
I lost it when I saw Carter hired her. That said it all for me:lol::lol:
Ellis, you have stated why we should have a UN, you have yet to point out how this UN is fulfilling the tasks it was created to do.
RV has been very gracious in permitting opposing opinions. I recognize that, and understand that the focus here is Republican/conservative. My use of “fair and balanced” above was a tongue-in-cheek reference based upon wording such as “Boxer’s bogus Bolton broadside” when R’s had also criticized the nomination. Nothing more (OK, perhaps a shot at Fox, but nothing diabolical).
10-”wording such as “Boxer’s bogus Bolton broadsideâ€- Is it untrue? I don’t think so.
As for your assertion that the Republicans are against him, I believe I explained that to you. They want to give time to investigate the allegations. It has been a week and look what has been found out about the source of the complaint. I told you they were paying lip service.
9. I have also stated that the UN needs tweaking … the formula isn’t working. Y’all prefer to dismantle it. I think a formal diplomatic channel/organization plus the option to go direct is preferred. And, if we’re to tweak, an ambassador that brings the problems Bolton does is not the guy. The position calls for diplomacy, people skills, non-abrasiveness, etc.
11. RE: the Boxer headline – we disagree. So be it.
RE: what’s been found out. Let’s wait until all the chips have been counted, and all is known. To my knowledge, the committee fuctions behind the scenes to a great extent. Not all is immediately public. Take the Colin Powell discussions with various Members. Some of the tone of his comments have been “leaked”, but he had private discussions.
12 Tweaking what Ellis? There have been problems since day 1 with the UN. People were calling for its end back in the 60′s. Things aren’t getting better, they are getting worse. I really don’t think it matters who they pick, you wouldn’t like them anyway.
13- It has been leaked because they thought they would get something to back up their reservations/attacks. They got nothing.
14. “you wouldn’t like them anyway” – are you the font of all knowledge? That’s a pretty definite statement considering what you think you know about me, or more specifically what you don’t know.
It is the pattern you have set. Nothing more.
17. And, that pattern is greatly infuenced by the topics here. Since this is a Republican/conservative blog, the topics are obviously friendly/supportive to that cause and anti-Dem, etc. Those of us who oppose the R’s on most issues are forced to comment on the issues Reilly, et al, post. Stories that are negative or detrimental to the R cause don’t appear here. Hence, any pattern may be skewed.
You are wrong, Ellis – - there are topics (even some lately) where I have highly disagreed with the Republicans and current administration – - for example immigration reform – - and social security. I have also spoken out about base closings – - Today I posted about it, but recently I had quite the little rant about it – - and there are several other examples.
18- Please take a good look at what Reilly wrote. She is right.
19. Point taken, Reilly. Let’s say most (not all) stories fit my prior comments. Sorry.
I also recall consensous on many aspects of the Schiavo matter.
Ellis, just a question.
If FOX news is not fair and balanced, can you give me a wide reaching, major news source that is? Or is at least clost?
I’d really be curious to hear your answer.
CNN, CBS, Al Jazeera?
(all three with about the same editorial slant, by the way)
22. Mike, I’m not sure any of them are. I take all editorial comments/reports with a grain of salt. I’ll listen to all, and then form my opinions.
The hard facts are generally accurate although some overzealous reporters/producors have aired stuff ahead of time.
23. Were you answering for me, Mike? Nice try … wrong!
no, I wasn’t answering for you, it’s just that the left has become SO USED to getting the news their way (CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, CNBS, NYT, WASH POST, ETC., ETC.,) That they believe anything to the right of Al Jazeera is crazy right wing propaganda…
FOX news is as close to fair and balanced as it gets.
26. I believe the right is also used to getting the news their way. Just look at how you view any sources other than Fox.
Also consider how the right views any print media other than The Washington Times or similar. I have seen very disparaging comments here about the Washington Post, LA Times, NY Times, and others.
LA Times? Isn’t that the most liberal newspaper in the country?
Ellis, I quite frankly cannot believe how people like you continute to cry about any sort of “right” bias in the news.
Pew Research Poll taken after 1996 Presidential election….
92% of Washington based correspondents voted for Billy Blowjob
43% of registered voters voted for billy blowjob.
Tell me again how there ISN’T a liber media?
next thing you are going to tell me that when universities have political science departments with 43 Liberal professors and 1 conservative, that students are getting a “fair and balanced” education.
29. I choose not to debate with a close-minded individual. I stated that I listen to all views(yes, even yours), and then form an opinion. I also ststed that there are no truly fair and balanced media. They all have a slant. You choose to believe the media is liberal. I see much conservative bias in many sources. Oh, well.
“People like [me]“? What about people like you? You’ll only entertain views consistent with yours.
30. Perhaps the “43″ are teaching students to listen and read about all views and then make an informed decision based on complete knowledge; not just (note that I’m not exclusing conservatism in teaching) the conservative dogma. I’ve read of movements to legislate the content of courses and to force conservative views. That’s truly progressive and in the best interest of teaching (sarcastic here for the literalists out there).
Ellis..you are an idiot.
quite simply put. I gave you HARD, COLD facts regarding the pervasive influence of liberals in the media and academia and you deny, deny deny.
Go ahead, whatever floats your boat….don’t let facts get in the way of your dying ideology.
33. LOL. It only took a few short posts to bring out your true nature and personality, Kilo. I hope you like things “up on the mount.” As I was once told when corresponding wuth you: “Consider the source.”
oh, that really hurts….
what else would you call someone who is presented with the facts that 92% of washington based corresepondents voted for Billy Blowjob, and then deny a pervasive liberal influence in the mainstream media?????? Hmmmm???????
oh, I forgot, consider the source.
Moron.
35. Y’know, Kilo, other than RV, there is only one common denominator in all these confrontations you have. Even you should be able to figure that out.
.you got me…
I’m dealing with mental midgets?
Think about it.. I have to try and lower my intellictual capacities every day to attempt to converse with idiots who STILL think Ted Kennedy isn’t a killer, Billy Blowjob is NOT a criminal, and the U.N. is good thing.
mind boggling.
38. “I have to try and lower my intellictual capacities” – that says it all. I’ve never met anyone with such a pompous opinion of him/herself. Unbelievable. Again, how are things on the mount?
I have a good view from here. How about you Mike?
40. LOL. Just remember, be nice to those you meet on the way up as they will fly by you on the way down.

Now this I can laugh about! Humor gone awry?
42- That is funny!
Ellis, you messed up the page.
44. So I noted. Whadda ya want from a “lib”!!! Sorry. It should cycle off the recent posts list soon.
I fixed it
Thanks, Reilly!
Just an observation, Ellis. If that’s the only thing to get in a yank about, we’re doing okay.
48. I hear ya.
