Pro-Life Activists Question Hillary Clinton’s Sincerity
A pro-life activist says he”s “profoundly disappointed” that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has “snubbed a dialogue with pro-life groups” – after she expressed interest in finding common ground with them.
The Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition, said pro-life leaders, including himself, have been trying for two months to arrange a face-to-face meeting with Sen. Clinton, but she has declined.
In late January, Sen. Clinton urged a group of abortion rights supporters to find common ground with pro-lifers. “We should be able to agree that we want every child born in this country to be wanted, cherished and loved,” Clinton said in a speech near Albany, N.Y. She also called abortion “a sad, even tragic choice” for many women.
Hillary made the “common ground” statement at the end of January and about five weeks after that she gave another speech and criticized President Bush for his stance on abortion and she immediately went back to her old statements about abortion and didn’t revisit the thoughts of “common ground”. How can these pro-lifers be surprised let alone “profoundly disappointed” when Hillary hasn’t done anything to find the “common ground” – - she spoke empty words.
Hillary changes her stance when it suits her needs. There is no reason to meet with them now. When she is struggling in her campaign, I bet she calls him.
Hilary is a political chameleon, so is this really a surprise to anyone?
Ted
Hillary this wicked witch of the worst kind is just your avrage two facd politician married to someone who supports abortion and what else so why should we be surprized?
While Hillary said she hoped those on opposite sides of the abortion issue could find “common ground,” it’s obvious that what she is really looking for is common ground between herself and a sufficient number of voters.
Do you honestly think it’s conceivable that Hillary would appear before a militantly pro-abortion group and say nice things about pro-lifers were she not running for the presidency?
Regardless of what Hillary’s purportedly changed attitudes show about her, they speak greater volumes about the political party she seeks to lead. The fact is that Hillary remains a darling of the Left and all its fringe constituency groups despite her increasingly heretical declarations.
Just as when John Kerry masqueraded as a hawk on national defense and the Michael Moore/Howard Dean wing of the party stayed right on board with him, Hillary has virtual immunity for any such apostasies. Why? Because they know she’ll always be a card-carrying, hardcore liberal no matter how much she pretends otherwise.
