Air America “Shoots ” Off An Apology
All-liberal Air America and talker Randi Rhodes apologized yesterday for a “bad taste” comedy bit in which President Bush was shot.
Rhodes opened her Monday afternoon radio show with an announcer blasting the president for his Social Security plan:
“A spoiled child [Bush] is telling us our Social Security isn’t safe anymore, so he’s gonna fix it for us. Well, here’s your answer, you ungrateful whelp: [sound of three shotgun blasts].
“The AAARP ” the American Association of Armed Retired People [sound of rifle being cocked]. Just try it, you little bastard.”
Having been told the bit was in poor taste Air America responded with an apology and even one from Rhodes that went like this:
“It was a bit. It was bad. I apologize a thousand times. I’m not in charge of the bits.”
So it was the fault of someone else, well I sure feel better – - how ’bout you?
I saw the “President” of the station on Linda Vester. What an ass.
Air america is probibly not like radio free europe i mean it sounds like the liberals are trying to brainwash the persons who care to listen not i said the egret
WHat the hell is Air America anyway? can I even find it on the dial?? is it like NPR? please help…..I’d love to tune in for a good laugh, if only I could find it.
Wait a minute…isn’t Air America that attempt by Rich, white liberals to combat the “right wing” dominance on talk radio by rich, white conservatives??????
They must be for the little people….
you could also see Air America as an attempt to counterbalance the right wing domination currently in place. blaming people for problems is always easier than working with the other side on answers, done by either side.
the percentage of right wing talk that can be defined as attacks on the left is not insignificant. i’ve not heard AA but i imagine they’re guilty of the same crap.

What a bad taste joke, and his “apology” wasn’t even for himself! This guy is even worse than Rush Limbaugh.
An apology might actually be required if the bit actually suggested shooting President Bush. But it didn’t. Looking at the transcript, the only reference was to a ‘spoiled child’. The sound of gunshots were not followed by any indication they were anything more than warning shots. Let’s not let our zealotry read too much into this lest we concede that we think that President Bush is a spoiled child.
