Could Franken Run?

Al Franken buys townhouse in Minneapolis

By year’s end, comedian Al Franken will be a Minnesotan again, taking a big step toward possibly running for the U. S. Senate seat held by Norm Coleman.

“It’s one of the things I need to do if I decide to make a run,” Franken said from his current home in New York. “I haven’t made the decision yet, but if I do, I’ll have to have been living in Minnesota a while.”

Franken, 53, said he and his wife, Frannie, bought a townhouse in a new development on the edge of downtown Minneapolis late last month.

He plans to shuttle between his two homes between now and the beginning of 2006, when he also plans to relocate his daily three-hour radio show broadcast on the liberal Air America network to Minnesota.

Franken, who grew up in St. Louis Park, has not lived in Minnesota since he was 22.

If he hasn’t lived in Minnesota since he was 22 then why doesn’t he run in New York against Hillary?

Can you imagine if he actually won – - he would be Senator Al Franken – - and they say there is no humor in politics.

  1. WEll,

The democrats currently have on their senate roster:

    1 drunken killer
    1 KKK grand wizard
1 carpet bagging bitch on wheels
why not Stuart Smalley??? fits right in.

  2. Oh, I nearly forgot the “african american” Barack Osama..otherwise known as the man whose “african” father deserted him as a child to be raised by his white mother….all the credentials of an “african american”

  3. I do think that’s what his intewntions are. I just don’t find him humorous.

  4. Well I guess he does need to look for a new job, Air Americas’ ratings are just getting worse and worse….you go Al

  5. So dose freaky franken want to run? well heres hope he runs all the way to canada and he dont come back:razz:

    Ted

  7. Come on now, I’ve arrived at similar conclusions for both Al Franken and Kerry. Even though I don’t agree with their politics, I still believe that Al Franken is funny and John Kerry is a war hero.

Like “Hiring Al D’Amato to lead an ethics investigation is like hiring Bob Dornan to lead a mental health task force”.

Or “Vice President Gore continued to show his commitment to the environment by announcing today that he’s going to change the policy on the stick up his butt. Instead of replacing the stick every day with a new stick, he’s going to keep the same stick up his butt for the rest of the Administration. This will eventually save an entire rain forest.”

Pretty disgusting juvenile humor, but I like it for some reason.

  8. 6- I agree with you, but I question why he would seriously consider this. I thought it was a joke, well I guess I still do, but this is odd.

That’s where we disagree. I am a member of the Sons of the VFW and during the elections I wanted to know what the vets thought about Kerry. I spake with 100+ of them and they did, almost to a man, call him traitor and not hero- especially the Viet Nam vets. In the case of Kerry, even though no formal charges were brought up on him that is good enough for me.

As far as Franken goes- was is also funny when he tackles a man to “protect” another’s freedom of speech? Franken is about as hilarious as a Taco Bell fart in a forty story elevator ride.
