Liza at CultureKitchen is not impressed, she says “Roe v. Wade will not be stricken out of the books in one blow because that is part of the dominionists agenda. They’re not interested in doing it that way. They are interested in weaking constitutional rights one blow at a time. What they want is to restrict constitutional interpretation and Roberts is the perfect candidate to make that happen as Chief Justice. They want the US Constitution to be about limiting not just freedoms but free will.

Michelle Malkin with Roberts is in, and has a listing of who voted how – 55 Republicans and 23 Dems voted yes. 22 Dems voted no.

  1. 23 dems broke rank and voted yes? I wonder who among them are up for re-election next year.

Here in Michigan, I heard on the radio our two dem senators, split. Stabenow (up for the vote again next year) was planning to vote no. Levin (’08) was going to vote to confirm.

  2. That is how it went down Sasha.

  3. “don’t expect a single dumbocrat to vote for a Bush Supreme Court nominee:not one.”

  4. Zelda he has already said that he was wrong.

  5. Roberts was the clsoest thing to a perfect nominee for the SC I have seen in my 40+ years. Anyone who voted against him is a partisan hack. Here is a list of “Senators” who deserve to be thrown out of office:

    Evan Bayh of Indiana
    Joseph Biden of Delaware
    Barbara Boxer of California
Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York
    Jon Corzine of New Jersey
    Mark Dayton of Minnesota
    Dick Durbin of Illinois
    Dianne Feinstein of California
    Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts
    John Kerry of Massachusetts
    Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey
    Barbara Mikulski of Maryland
    Barack Obama of Illinois
    Harry Reid of Nevada
    Charles Schumer of New York
    Debbie Stabenow of Michigan
    Jack Reed of Rhode Island
    Tom Harkin of Iowa
    Daniel Inouye of Hawaii
    Paul Sarbanes of Maryland
    Maria Cantwell of Washington
    Daniel Akaka of Hawaii

I sadly note (not unexpectedly) that both of the Kalifornia “Senators” voted no. A pox on them all. Also note how new “Centrist” HilLiary Rotten Klinton voted no also, revealing her true nature.

  6. Yeah, apparently nobody notices.

I said.. I am surprised that 20 some dumbocrats voted for Roberts.

And appalled that he ONLY got 78 votes, when Ruth Bader, 12 year old’s are fine by me, Ginsberg got 97.

    it’s reprehensible.

  7. 6, Mike, Zelda is hurting. She’s looking at a new Chief Justice that doesn’t believe in legalizing her crack pipe.

  8. You might want to take a closer look at the 12 year old statement she made. She didn’t word it the way you are taking it.

  9. Zelda,

What part of …Ruth Bader Ginsberg believes that the age of consent for an abortion should be 12….am I missing?

    Please, enlighten me

  11. mike kilo;

I would love to. Can you give me some time? I am busy with the crack pipe at the moment. I would be happy to discuss this in the future, but I am too busy right now. How about Monday?
