About the lowest price right now in the PRK (People’s Republic of Kalifornia)is $2.74. Imo that’s about $1.74 higher than gasoline should be.

Is Acetone or Toluene cheaper/gallon than gasoline, and does it have as much energy as gasoline? Otherwise you are just watering down your fuel.

I’m going to try it again and use a little less acetone. Anything much beyond adding oil to my car I leave to the mechanics.

Something you all can do and not void any warranties is put a set of “underdrive” pullies on your cars. My set cost me $95, and I gained 2 MPG in the city. My battery has not gone dead, nor has my car overheated this summer. I’ve had the pulleys on for about a year with no ill effects.

4, P, my car is a 97, and out of all warranties. It is also modified from stock condition, and will be further modified as loose change permits.

On newer cars, especially the flex fuel ones, there shouldn’t be a problem with using acetone or toluene.

I use acetone because I can find it easier than toluene.

3, Z, you have to get the mixture right for your car. I didn’t see much difference the first tank, but then I had been burning Ethanol which doesn’t work with acetone.

I’m getting about 20MPG in town. My car seems like a little more than the .25 oz/gallon ratio.

Gas in E. Dubuque, IL is $2.42 for Ethanol and $2.49 for unleaded. That puts Ethanol in the $2.30s in Dubuque and unleaded at about $2.45.

PCD, how is the acetone working for you?

I told the guys I work with about it and they told me it would ruin my engine, paint, oxygen sensor, fuel filter and basically destroy my car. After hearing their opinions I knew I had to try it. My car didn’t seem any different though. I got 370 miles per tank without it, and 360 with it.

I’m paying $2.49/gallon for unleaded to which I add .25 oz acetone per gallon.

Ethanol is $2.44/gallon here.
