Strong, Sweet Smell Reported in Manhattan
Residents from the southern tip of Manhattan to the Upper West Side nearly 10 miles north called a city hot line to report a strong odor Thursday night that most compared to maple syrup, The New York Times reported Friday.
There were so many calls that the city’s Office of Emergency Management coordinated efforts with the Police and Fire Departments, the Coast Guard and the City Department of Environmental Protection to find the source of the mysterious smell.
Air tests haven’t turned up anything harmful, but the source was still a mystery.
A mystery indeed. Of course the first thought in my mind was that it is a “test” to see how far “gases” distributed in a particular manner can travel within the city. I know that could be far reaching, but let’s not forget 9/11 was the second attack on the WTC. Perhaps my conspiracy theory side is out of control this morning – - so share what you think the “odor” could be. What say you?
The fact that New Yorkers noticed it is what set off my alarm buttons! I said to you a long time ago that they will use the K.I.S.S. method to attack us again. We get preoccupied with thinking of all this high-tech stuff that can be used to attack us, but it has proven to be crude means by which they do it.
