Until then, he had just been a failed minor league pitcher with no real political ideology. When we wouldn't help with his little revolution, he went to the USSR, got a very healthy dose of indoctrination into Marxism and a bunch of weapons, and went back to Cuba and held his revolution. Think of all of the trouble we could've saved if we had just gotten him a decent pitching coach in the early 50s. LOL If they had taught him to throw a curve and a slider and we could be smoking Cuban cigars and gambling at casinos in Havana just like the days before the revolution.
