Schwarzenegger Mulls Clemency for Williams
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Friday he would consider granting clemency to convicted killer Stanley Tookie Williams, the Crips gang founder.
The governor said he would meet Dec. 8 in a private hearing with Williams’ lawyers, Los Angeles County prosecutors and others involved.
Williams, 51, faces a lethal injection on Dec. 13 for the 1979 slayings of a Whittier convenience store clerk and three people at a Pico Rivera motel. He has maintained his innocence and has asked the California Supreme Court to reopen his case, alleging shoddy forensics wrongly connected him to three of the murders. The Supreme Court hasn’t ruled on the petition.
Along with asking Schwarzenegger to commute Williams’ death sentence, his lawyers submitted what they said were signatures of 32,000 people supporting his petition for clemency.
That is 32,000 from across the United States – - including Snoop Dogg, Ras Baraka, Deputy Mayor of Newark and others who have asked Arnold to spare Williams’ life.
Why would they want to spare the life of the person who started the Crips back in ‘71?
They say because of his work since he has been in prison. He has co-written anti-gang books for children, has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and has even had a television movie made about his life.
Is this enough to give him clemency? What say you?

How many clemancies are handed down by the Crips? This isn’t a positive environment that the man set up. This is what it is…thugs hell bent on defending their turf by killing. Isn’t the only way out of his club by death?

I’m afraid Stanley Tookie Williams needs to die. These 32,000 people could really do more for our country by helping more deserving people.

Grant him the clemency the same he gave to his victim the clemency of the gas chamber:twisted:
