The Hill has a great article on the role of the Party Chairman, namely Howard Dean. It has always been my understanding the the Party Chairman is responsible for conveying the message of the party leaders, raising money for candidates, strategically planning upcomming elections, and is P.R. person for the party. Howard Dean raises money for the party, but even that is lacking. From my list, and in reading the party’s reaction, I would say it is time to replace the Chairman.
An aide close to the Democratic leadership on Capitol Hill said, “There were serious concerns when Gov. Dean took over that he understand what his role was and what it wasn’t. There were meetings with the congressional leadership and Mr. Dean where it was discussed and the governor implied that he understood what his role was and was not, that he was the mechanical part of the party, not the standard bearer or message person. Subsequently, there have been episodes that have been concerning.”
Pollster David Beattie, whose clients include Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.), said that he had worked in 31 states in the past five years, only seven of which were won by Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) in the 2004 presidential race.
“In the other 24, Dean is more of a hindrance than a help,” Beattie said.
Other Democrats, declining to speak for attribution, said Dean should focus on “party mechanics” and fundraising. The DNC has raised a little under $48 million in the 2005-2006 cycle compared to the Republican National Committee’s $89.1 million.
Manley said Reid believes Dean is doing a fantastic job fundraising and building the party. Finney noted that by the end of the year there would be four paid DNC staffers in every state.
This made me laugh out loud. Why did I laugh? Well every state has a staff on hand be it for Republicans or Democrats. I know for a fact that the MIGOP works hand in hand with the National Party. I guess it begs the question; why aren’t the state Democratic parties working with the National ones? How is paying 4 people per state going to change anything if the message being conveyed sucks?
Leave Dean in a chairman. He makes the GOP’s job a lot easier.
Isn’t it funny that the party base is upset but Reid thinks he is doing a good job? That is very telling!
2: Cranio-rectal inversion is the only explanation I can think of…
Let the dems keep their heads in what we used to refer to as rectal defillade. If they let Dean keep pushing their heads ever further up their posteriors, they may eventually become smaller and smaller until they disappear. They’re well on their way to becoming insignificant, let’s see if they can push themselves to the brink of extinction.
The demacrats are in big trouble and they are stuck in the quicksand and sinking along with the liberal left-wing news media:smile:
