dude where do you get that this went against the wishes of Congress? Certain Congressional leaders are on the committee overseeing the program. In fact Pete Hoekstra, from my state has spoken in favor of the program and says he has been briefed every 45 days. The POTUS has the power via the COTUS to authorize these wiretaps.

How can you say that Bush’s actions were legal, when they were against the wishes of Congress, and also you don’t actually know who was spied on? That just doesn’t make any sense.

I suppose you could say “we don’t know if they went too far, because their actions were all classified” … but to just assume they didn’t do anything wrong, that in bypassing all oversight they didn’t give in to temptation, seems … let’s say optimistic, if not ludicrous.

FAO- don’t you think that since ‘Deep Throat’, more and more people think they will become the next one? People forgot that the man broke the law in his actions. They also forget that he was convicted of the very crime that he accused Nixon of doing. Now GWB has no business spying on another politician for political gain, but terrorists are another story. His actions are legal and that of the ‘leaker’ is not.

I personally don’t care what the leakers motivations were. He/she endangered the lives of millions of Americans. I think that all of the friends and families of anyone who died on 9/11 should contact these lunatic Democratic Congressmen and Senators and ask them to explain why they are trying to make it easier for Al Quaeda terrorists to conduct more attacks in this country. Force these Democrats to admit that their political aspirations are more important to them than the lives of their constituents.

I want Chucky to go down to Ground Zero and explain to his constituents why he’s opposed to the US Intelligence community eavesdropping on INTERNATIONAL calls between KNOWN AL QUAEDA MEMBERS overseas and suspected Al Quaeda members already in the US. While he’s at it have him take Jamie Gorelick with him to explain why Able Danger wasn’t allowed to share the intel they had that identified Mohammed Atta as being a known terrorist and in this country planning an attack with the FBI. Hell, even Louis Freeh said what he has seen of it was actionable intelligence, at least enough to warrant surveillence and investigation.

Make Babs Boxer go to the podium and explain to the families on those flights from Boston to LA why it’s so damn important to insure that terrorists have 4th, 5th and 8th amendment protections when international law says that they are entitled to only 5th amendment rights, legal counsel and a military tribunal followed by an execution or life in prison.

Let Jay Rockefeller explain to the families of the people killed in the Pentagon why his political aspirations are more important than stopping another attack.

I think it’s time we take these Democratic weasels to task. Dean has flat out stated they have no intention of stating a platform because they feel that as the “Opposition Party” they don’t have to. I know why this moron got into politics. With that kind of logic, would you really want him being your family doctor or performing surgery on you or a family member. I can see it now. “Yes, I know only the left leg was damaged in the accident, but we cut off the right one as well so that it would be more balanced.”
