Iran’s president hoped for the death of Ariel Sharon

Iran’s president said Thursday he hoped for the death of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, the latest anti-Israeli comment by a leader who has already provoked international criticism for suggesting that Israel be “wiped off the map.”
“Hopefully, the news that the criminal of Sabra and Chatilla has joined his ancestors is final,” President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying by the semiofficial Iranian Students News Agency.

Ahmadinejad was referring to Sharon, who as defense minister in 1982 directed Israel’s ill-fated invasion of Lebanon. An Israeli commission found him indirectly responsible for a massacre of Palestinians in the Sabra and Chatilla refugee camps by Christian Phalangist soldiers.

Iran’s official media, including state-run radio and television, did not report Ahmadinejad’s remarks about Sharon.

“Hopefully, others (criminals like him) will join him too,” ISNA quoted Ahmadinejad as telling a group of clerics in Qom, a holy city 80 miles south of the capital, Tehran. He spoke a day after the 77-year-old Sharon suffered a massive stroke and underwent surgery.

In the last two months, Ahmadinejad has called the Holocaust a “myth” and said if Europeans insist it did occur, then they should give some of their own land for a Jewish state, rather than the one in the Middle East. He also called for Israel to be “wiped off the map.”

And now for our own home grown nut case:

The Reverend Pat Robertson says Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s massive stroke could be God’s punishment for giving up Israeli territory.

The founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network told viewers of “The 700 Club” that Sharon was “dividing God’s land,” even though the Bible says doing so invites “God’s enmity.”

Robertson added, “I would say woe to any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course.”

He noted that former Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated.

Robertson said God’s message is, “This land belongs to me. You’d better leave it alone.”

Robertson is an ass!

If Rev. Robertson knows what God is going to do, why doesn’t he warn folks? And if God is now smiting fellows who divide, a repentant Robertson better have a word with the Big Guy. God knows where he lives. In fact, it’s a little surprising that he hasn’t already awakened with a Holy Hand Grenade in his boxers!

Look on the bright side, though: We didn’t elect Robertson president. American Jews might be forced to wear Stars of David on their lapels or something equally creative. Rev. Robertson just seems a little too eager for fellow humans to suffer — Hugo Chavez, for example — for a clergyman. Say a prayer for poor Pat.

That is nothing he hopes for all are deaths.

after all he knows who his enemies are. I would love to cut his head off but our government would put me in prison or just shot me dead if i did that and got out of Iran alive. so i look at this article as just one more propaganda line! but it is fun to read.

I think Ariel Sharon is wrong to divide Israel, but for another reason. Look at Israel. It is the smallest country in the world visible on a world map. Yet Sharon feels the need to divide it more? The Arabs should be grateful that all Israel has right now is that small strip of land.

Until 1948, Israel wasn’t even on a map. Gaza wasn’t a part of Israel until the 1967 war. Sharon didn’t divide Israel. He simply returned a lot of land that was conquered in a war 38 years ago. I don’t know if his work will lead to peace between the Palestineans and the Israelis, but without it there was absolutely no chance of peace. Now if the Palestinian President can bring the lunatic fringe militants under control, they might be able to actually work out a real peace. My suggestion would be for Israel to go to covert operations to retaliate against attacks versus overt ones. I have no qualms with them killing Hamas leaders, their use of helicopter gunships cause entirely too much collateral damage and damage their image with the rank and file Palestinians that Hamas has to rely on for support. A sniper rifle round or a middle of the night tactical raid kills the Hamas leader just as dead as an air to surface missile without killing people walking down the street. As long as Israel’s retaliatory attacks continue to rack up collateral damage, Hamas will have a willing recruit base. When the collateral damage ceases, the level of outrage among the Palestinians will lessen or disappear. The Palestinian Authority needs to disavow the radical groups, crack down on them, or at least act like they are while allowing the Mossad to take care of the problem while disguised as Palestinian policemen.

A thought on the topic of Robertson is to force him to face the people he’s condemning to more generations of warfare. FORCE him to explain how he knows that GOD has decided that the land now occupied by Israel is his and anyone dividing it must be punished. Force him to look a 10 yr old Palestinian child in the face and tell them that they will never know peace in their lifetime.

He’s acting entirely too much like the Catholic Popes who called for a crusade to force the infidels from the Holy Land. Only to have thousands slaughtered on both sides for a piece of land that has some areas that without irrigation are essentially uninhabitable.

True. For instance, I cried when I heard Israel chased down militants and started firing at them right next to a mental hospital. I support killing terrorists, but behavior like that only creates more.

These fucks never blame the REAL cause of terrorism, a twisted, violent, barbaric “religion” that teaches it’s “followers” that anyone who dosen’t believe as they do, should be dead.

Islam is the real enemy, and I don’t give a shit if that makes me sound like some sort of extremist, or religious bigot, or whatever….there aren’t any mormons strapping bombs to themselves..there aren’t any episcopalians planting roadside bombs…there aren’t any lutherans blowing up jews on buses.

Can we finally admit this?????? Or are we tooooo afraid?

Every religion has people that exploit it. The Catholics have the Crusades, the Mormons have the Mountain Meadows Massacre, Jews have killing “Heretics”, and Hindus have their caste system.

    12. Historically that is true. HOwever, I believe that in the last century most religions have become more tolerant and understanding of different cultural beliefs.
EXCEPT Islam. They are the single holdouts in this equation. All they want is to kill the infidels and that is anyone who is not a muslim. There is simply no room in their religion for tolerance.

That my friend has to end. And that is what the civilized world, jews, catholics, episcopalians, need to focus on achieving.

The truth is that most Muslims are not radical Islamofascists anymore than most Christians or Jews want to purge the other religions from their respeoctive countries. Historically, the Muslims have been far more tolerant of the Christians and Jews than the other way around.

HOWEVER, there has in the last century or so arisen a very violent sect of Islam called Wahabism (sp?) that is not tolerant of anyone despite the Koran calling for all Muslims to treat all Christians and Jews with respect as “People of the Book”. This sect is the source of all of the problems with terrorism in the middle east and have been exporting their extremist philosophy to the far east as well. Wahabism is based in Saudi Arabia and while the Saudi Royal family has little more than enmity for it, they also rely on it to legitimize their claim to the throne. Therefore they, against their better judgement, actually provide funding for the schools or madrasas that are being run by the Wahabist mullahs. They also provide support to a variety of schools that are the equivalent of Islamic Seminaries. These are also unfortunately run by the Wahabists. As the new mullahs graduate from these seminaries fully indoctrinated in the Wahabist beliefs, they go into the world at large to establish or take over leadership of mosques and thereby end up spreading the Wahabist ideology. That is how the Army Sgt who fragged some officers in Kuwait was indoctrinated into the Wahabist beliefs to the exclusion of his American beliefs. He had gone to an Islamic study center here and was indoctrinated into wahabism while there. Many Military Islamic chaplains have received their training from these schools.

Muslims are not the enemy, radical Islamofascists are.

FAO- That is a nice text book way to look at it, but I find it troubling that yet again it is a non-muslim defending the Muslims. Where is the outrage from the Muslims? Why is it that they do not speak out an denounce the radicals?

As for your comments in 5, you are correct that Israel was not on the map, but for centuries that is the land that they owned. It took a world body to recognize them. Prior to this, the Palestinians, basically the gypsies of the arab world did live in that region as there were Palestinian Jews. It was the Palestians than migrated to that area over the centuries. Isreal has every right to defend herself. It is the Israelis that have made every effort for peace, despite the fact that the Palestians.

I feel like I’m talking to a wall with you idiots… Frmrartyoffcr, or whatever you call yourself..you are clueless…. Islam is a violent, intolerant, barbarian “religion”, and is currently the source of just about ALL evil across the globe, from Tehran to Paris, Jakarta to Fallujah, Riyadh to Manila…. It’s Muslims who make life a living hell for millions……

Tell me what exactly would be the problem in destroying these “people” once and for all???

Mike, I’m inclined to agree with you for the most part although I do think there are some muslims who wish no harm to anyone.

Shortly after 9/11 I had a friend. An egyptian born american who had lived in the U.S. since age 5. All I heard from her mouth was how it was a conspiracy of the jews, obl was not a terrorist, and if Israel would give up it’s land to the Palistinians this would never have happened.

Mind you she was an american citizen. RAISED in the U.S. within a muslim family. Needless to say we soon parted ways but it convinced me.

I hate to sound prejudice but after that experience I have become weary towards muslims. After all you don’t hear much outrage from their communities.

Bonbon, I had a very similar experience… for about 4 years, one of my best friends was a student from Kuwait (of all things), who actually, as a teenager, fought iraqis during the invasion of kuwait… after 9/11, even HE was making the same excuses..”if it wasn’t for israel” “if the US didn’t have troops in Saudi Arabia”.. I said, “Salah, don’t EVER speak to me again.”

from that point on, I do not associate with Muslims…period.

Thanks Mike and Peejz….it’s actually comforting to know that I’m not alone and my feelings don’t reflect a prejudice I don’t want to feel. But feel it I do and until I see change I will stay weary of the muslim world and all that it stands for.

Why they continue to blame the jews is an obsession that is beyond me. Nothing I have ever read suggests that it is warranted.

BonBon, it is a lie repeated so often, as Goebbles said, that the Muslims and American Democrats take for the absolute truth.

On another blog, there is a poster who hates Jews, but tries to deflect recognition of his bigotry by saying that only if the Zionists “disappeared” along with Israel, then there would be peace.

BonBon- a good example of what you are saying is how some are able to justify the anger of the murderers from the holocoust toward the Jews. The Jews were prospering because of hard work and knowlege while those around them were not. Rather than learn from the Jews, it was easier to blame them for their misery!
