Syria and Iraq’s WMD’s

By: Pam On: Jan/26/06 - 6 Comments

The New York Sun has this article quoting Georges Sada, Iraq’s number 2 man in Saddam’s Air Force. He is claiming that the WMD’s were moved to Syria prior to the invasion in 2003. Sister Toldja is also reporting on this here. She cites this Front Page Magazine article from last November, as well as the words of Jay Rockefeller here, as additional resources.

I have believed all along that Syria has possession of the WMD’s. There was enough time to move them and more than enough help. I do believe that we have had intelligence failures..that I am not disputing, but not to the extent that we and the rest of the world were wrong. We know Saddam had them, and now we can’t even find the evidence that they existed? That is the part that troubles me. It was an over cleaning on his part that I think may trip him up and lead us to the weapons.

Here is an excert from The New York Sun

The man who served as the no. 2 official in Saddam Hussein’s air force says Iraq moved weapons of mass destruction into Syria before the war by loading the weapons into civilian aircraft in which the passenger seats were removed.

The Iraqi general, Georges Sada, makes the charges in a new book, “Saddam’s Secrets,” released this week. He detailed the transfers in an interview yesterday with The New York Sun.

“There are weapons of mass destruction gone out from Iraq to Syria, and they must be found and returned to safe hands,” Mr. Sada said. “I am confident they were taken over.”

Mr. Sada’s comments come just more than a month after Israel’s top general during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Moshe Yaalon, told the Sun that Saddam “transferred the chemical agents from Iraq to Syria.”

Who is Georges Sada and why should we care?

The Sun goes into little detail to tell us who Sada is, or, more importantly, who he was. You might like to know a little more about Mr. Sada in order to establish his bonafides in your own minds.
