Alito Sworn In

Alito sworn in at US high court

Samuel Alito was sworn in as a U.S. Supreme Court justice on Tuesday after a divided Senate confirmed the second conservative selected by President George W. Bush in his effort to move the high court to the right.

Chief Justice John Roberts, Bush’s first Supreme Court nominee, administered the constitutional and judicial oaths in a private ceremony at the court, a spokeswoman said.

Just hours earlier, the sharply divided Senate confirmed Alito, 55, a federal appeals judge since 1990, to the nation’s highest court on a largely party line vote of 58-42.

Alito became the 110th member of the Supreme Court.

Congrats all around.

  1. And congratulations to Bush on his tanking numbers.

A majority of Americans think he sucks.

    Bwahahahahahaha!

  2. Who sucks, Bush or Alito? If it is the latter, can you give us some solid numbers to support your assertion, Claudia?

Methinks I detect the odor of sour grapes.

  3. 1. Claudia Ryan…. not according to the election results of 2004, with President Bush receiving more votes than any president in the history of America…

Like they say, Ms. Ryan…it’s the ONLY poll that counts!!!

    Have a great day.

  4. 3…. Mike you know that the popular vote is not the only poll that counts…the only poll that counts is the electoral college vote, otherwise Gore would have won in 2000, when incidentally at the time he recieved more votes than any other president in the history of America……

  5. 5. that’s why we have the electoral college, redfred, or do you need a civics lesson?

So that the unwashed masses in NY and California DO NOT get to decide for the rest of us.

    Or have you forgotten?

  6. You were the one who said it was the only poll that counts, it is not I that needs the civics lesson

  7. I said the “Election results” are the only poll that counts.

read my post, you apparently need an English lesson.

“Claudia Ryan:. not according to the election results of 2004, with President Bush receiving more votes than any president in the history of America:

Like they say, Ms. Ryan:it’s the ONLY poll that counts!!!”

  8. So in the 2004 electoral college vote bush recieved more votes than any president in the history of America?

  9. no you moron… he received more popular votes…but that was incidental to my point…
the ELECTION RESULT is the only poll that counts.

if you are looking for hypocrisy…I can give you a few better places to start.

  10. why don’t you start with fat-ass carpet-bagging senators who vote for war, then call the president a liar on a daily basis for leading the very same war that you voted for.

  11. Claudia: Chapatraitor Ted Kennedy, Turban Durban, Chuck E. Cheese Schumer, Barbara “Bouncer” Boxer, Yeeeeawww Dean, and the rest of the arch-hypocrite Democrite leadership SUCKS.

  12. Just pointing out a flaw in the way you wrote your comment…:-) no need to get all defencive.

I’m not responcible for any comments made by senators, republicain or democrat, I didn’t vote them in. And I’m certainly not going to jump to defend an anti war stance, I’m not anti war in case you forgot.
