Funny Cartoon. The really sad thing about all of this Jihad crap is that it must be a religious evolution thing. Take a religion, age it for 1400 – 1600 years, and it starts turning out radical violent ideologues. The modern Muslims really aren’t any worse than the Christians during the latter crusades or the 30 years wars in Europe. They were far more bloody that the current unrest they just didn’t have digital satellite TV uploads to spread the images all over the world.
Another really big difference is the weaponry. It now takes a lot fewer people to do as much damage as it did in the late middle ages/ rennaissance. Of course you don’t see the Muslims executing entire cities of Muslims just because they belong to a different sect. The Christians did do that during the 30 yrs war. Richard the Lionhearted had the entire garrison of Acre executed not because the Muslims weren’t willing to pay the ransom for them, but rather that they weren’t paying it fast enough. There also wasn’t any quarter given when the Roman Catholic armies descended on Constantinople. I guess Christianity has simply evolved further. At least most Christians have evolved beyond the kill everyone who doesn’t pray the way I do mentality. I only wish that the fanatical Muslims realized that a lack of tolerance for others can result in a lack of tolerance towards them. I even heard some fruit loop from England proclaim that the future of Islam is the restoration of the old Caliphate that ringed the Mediterranean Ocean. I wonder if they handed him his sign after the interview. People really do need to know when they’re dealing with an idiot like that.
FAO…it’s true religious wars have been going on for hundreds of years but we are now well into the 21st century. Along with this you have sophisticated weapons (as you said), and other things as well and there is just no reason why there should be any group of people who lack tolerance towards the rest. I predict that if the Muslim communities do not settle down and start trying to get along in this modern world they will be very, very, sorry in the end.
