Red America At The Washington Post

I will be honest, I didn’t think WaPo had it in them to add a conservative blog to their online service, but today is the debut of Red America, co-founded by Ben Domenech.

From start to finish of the first post; Pachyderms in the Mist: Red America and the MSM, Ben captures your attention with the first line being:

This is a blog for the majority of Americans

and ending the piece with this:

Red America’s citizens are the political majority. They’re here to stay. It’s time to start paying attention to what they believe and why.

Take the time to read it.

  1. I am saying that Michael King was a useful idiot of those who sought to make America a communist country….and by extension, since we know from Zelda’s very adroit post, that communism is in the business of murdering the innocent, he was as anti-american as you can get.

He plagiarized his most famous speech, for god’s sake.

Am I the only person on the planet who dosen’t succumb to this friggin’ hero worship?

And what kind of “preacher” fucks everything on 2 legs anyway???

  2. No; I did not say or imply that.

Martin Luther King Jr. made a big contribution to the civil rights movement; but he was no saint, no genius, and he was wrong about communism.

  3. I’m surprised that San Francisco Liberal’s comments haven’t been deleted yet. :???:

  4. Is Peejz back to deleting comments contrary to Republican opinions again???

  5. I hope not… It’s my source of entertainment here! Reading the unhinged rants of the Bush-hating crowd is like “Flavor of Love” It’s ridiculous and shallow, and I CAN’T KEEP MY EYES OFF OF IT!!!!

  6. 52- Only idiots that can’t keep up Zelda. At least San Fran can put forth an arguement. Good point made in 48 by the way….

  7. 53- You’ve seen it all.

  8. #51 Alyssa : Now THAT’S the fascist spirit I come to expect from conservatives!

“I don’t like what he’s saying, so why don’t we just delete his comments!”

    PERFECT!

  9. #54 Peejz – thanks, guy.

  10. Well at least San Francisco Liberal (post 46) has come out of the closet. Most of the Libs hide behind some socially-benevolent mask (compassion, caring, working for the oppressed, etc.). SF Liberal has put it right out there where he’s coming from.

See my post #34 for a heuristic, layman’s explanation of the basis of Liberalism/Leftism/Socialism. With that established, it explains at least why they spout what they do.

I brought up Klinton because that poll I cited as an anecdotal example of why the polls are useless was about Klinton. I didn’t pick the subject, the pollster did.

But while we’re on the subject of Klintscum, he is very much in the news because he has been going around badmouthing Bush (now that another Liberal Saint, Peanut Brain, has broken the ice for ex-presidents criticizing sitting Presidents) and of course his demonically-posessed co-conspirator is constantly doing so in her quest for the reins of power in 2008.

So he’s quite fair game, SF Lib.

Here’ s a good quote for you: “Nero fiddled while Rome burned. Clero masturbated while America’s national security burned.”

  11. Peejz, I’m sure you’re a nice guy, but I’m waiting for that apology from you.

You tried to hit me with bringing B.J. Billy into the discussion…and it wasn’t me.

I’m just wondering if you’ll take responsibility for your false accusation or not.

not really a biggie, but…you know, it’s the principal of it.

    thanks, guy.

  12. Robert, please re-read the last sentence of my post #46.

    NOT…COMMUNIST.

    :!:

  13. Psst, SFL, Peejz is a girl.

  14. “I dunno, I’m just thinking out loud here, but it seems to me that it is VERY unAmerican to come down on someone because of their political ideology.”

Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton come to mind.

No one is going to firebomb your house if they don’t like what you say here. They’ll just call you names and (hopefully) provide a counter-argument.

  15. 59- you will wait as I won’t be giving you one…You brought Billy up in your argument of whining conservatives from #7. BTW, any past POTUS is fair game to all political discussions…just because they are no longer in office does not mean that policies and actions they were a part of are no longer pertinent to today…

Yes I am a woman..no I have not edited you..I do mean what I said..you do put forth an argument and don’t whine about us picking on you…you seem to give as good as you get around here. Could you please answer Zelda’s question..in your case, please tell us of a successful socialist or communistic system. And I do understand that you are not a communist.

  16. Peejz – thanks for the kind words. I think many people on both sides need to step back from all that, for lack of a better word, hate and speak calmly and rationally.

For christs sakes, we’re ALL Americans, we all love our country to some extent, and we’re all more similar than either side would care to admit.

BUT…regarding B.J. Billy, you are still missing post #4…which preceded my comment. apology pending. :!: :?:

You want an example of a successful Socialist system? Really? How about: Most of Europe? Look at their high literacy rates, low infant mortality rates, quality of living, free health care, VASTLY lower poverty levels, etc, etc, etc…

Of course, they all have their problems. Unemployment, high taxes…but no system is perfect.

Marxist communism, I will agree with you, probably shouldn’t leave the piece of paper it’s printed on. It’s heart is in the right place (not the leaders, but the theory) but it just isn’t practical with human nature.

    IMHO.

Oh, this little nugget is gold: Cuba has a lower infant mortality rate than the United States.

SF Liberal is NOT a Castro fan, but, come on…that’s pretty impressive. (!)

  17. “You want an example of a successful Socialist system? Really? How about: Most of Europe?”

Agreed, but have you ever been there? I’ll take America any day of the week.

“Cuba has a lower infant mortality rate than the United States.”

According to the Cuban Government? Can you really trust what they say? (By the way American foreign policy towards Cuba has been a disaster for far too long)

  18. SF Liberal: Duly noted. I’ll accept that you are not a Communist.

Cuba has a lower infant mortality rate than the U.S.? I side with Zelda—I wouldn’t believe anything the Castro Gov’t puts out.

And even if it was true: Apples to Apples? Would the Cuba stat include crackheads and the other flotsam and jetsam we have here in the U.S. pumping out unwanted babies then dumping them in trashcans?

  19. Europe surpasses us in education and infant mortality rate but let’s not forget about how France treats the elderly…didn’t thousands die in the heat not one summer, but 2 in a row?

Zelda- I am not so sure our policy has been a failure. There is nothing stopping the rest of the world from helping Cuba…they seem to do just fine without us…JMO
